  2. Nice -- Amarok is one of my favourites of Oldfield's as well (inasmuch as I can choose a favourite, although usually it's whichever of his releases I am listening to at the mo')
  3. No, this would be why.
  4. More impressions on the MBL system, please.
  5. Grrr...don't have any of my reference recordings with me, so it's all classical and ambient today, I.E. just burning in. I don't seem to have one iota of anything remotely vocal. I must say, they're quite comfy, though, and the all black look (with one sliver of silver going around the earcups) is gorgeous. They isolate pretty well -- I think less than my Leatherhead, and more than my A100Ti.
  6. Got 'em, impressions later (after I've listened to 'em). They used an old case of "tuna in jelly" box to ship 'em in -- so first impression is that they literally stink, but fortunately the box inside was wrapped in plastic, so they be alright. This is definitely not a box I'll be keeping around to ship something else in later.
  7. He wasn't, but he is now.
  8. Why does her name sound familiar?
  9. Hirsch had one for a while, perhaps you should ask him. IIRC, he prefered it to the RA-1, but not by much.
  10. And that would make today different how? Your loss. There are a lot of fine leather workers in the arts & crafts type industry -- I saw two just a couple weekends ago at a thing called Sugarloaf. Not whatever dirty gutter your mind went. Although they can do some good work, too. How about some nice PVC?
  11. me == goofin', ignore previous comment.
  12. I watched The Devil Wears Prada earlier tonight -- enjoyable movie done well. The ending was a bit much, but didn't destroy it for me.
  13. That's not a fake girlfriend, that's an "ex".
  14. Yes, please do -- if it's better than the CD mastering, I'll be requesting a needle-drop.
  15. Chicken Dijon
  16. Well...you ain't that slow. Sounds emo, albeit more vaguely abstract.
  17. Good call -- I am of the same mind: in theory, I remain skeptical, but if listening proves the point, then theory be damned.
  18. Yeah, I imagine it would -- she strikes me as the sort of musician that one "gets", live.
  19. The key to this sentence being "...to high levels", since I've listened on both Grados and Audio-Technicas on my SP amp (which is a 6SN7 model).
  20. She is an acquired taste (and in the interest of full disclosure, one I have not fully acquired yet). Curve are great.
  21. No, I haven't yet tried the penny/nickel/quarter/dime suggestion yet, myself, but that's what I would have suggested. But now that you mention it, I can see why they might be a problem. Personally, I buy marble and/or granite samples from the local hardware store (Home Depot/Lowe's).
  22. I have yet to do business with Vince, and nothing has happened. Coincidence? I think not. No, wait, my cat threw up.
  23. Another thought -- sow two pieces of leather together big enough to hold the Nano and stick your finger in to control it -- is that even remotely a possibility?
