What are you EATING right now?
I always thought that was a euphemism for something else...

What about a discrete DAC? Does anyone make one of those? And would it even sound good?
-
And now what did you do TODAY?
Well at least you're taking it well. No, seriously, who would take care of the kittehs if you got shipped off? Do your duty, take care of the kittehs!

RIP someone or another
Condolences and eventual cheers, guys.

I'm in the wrong fucking business. "Pay us for what we do!", not whether or not it accomplishes anything.

Info on "pico POWER Portable Amp"?
I want to get another pair of rechargeable batteries and rotate between the two -- Alkaline, Lithium, or NiMH? Do I need to make sure they can deliver a certain amount of amperage, or is there another spec I need to look at? Are there certain brands that are known not to fit? It's fairly tight in there. Powerex has 9.6V 23mAh, and 8.4V 300mAh, for examples. Are either disrecommended, the one that's over, or the one that's under? Tenergy and PowerAdd have some that are stated at 600mAh. @justin ...(or anyone else)...can you give any insight on what the different voltage ratings can do to the amp? I know it would never hurt to have more amps on tap, except that might also affect its physical dimensions, but I do not know what underpowering or overpowering the voltage will do. Wait, so the headamp site says: So I'm confused about the alkaline, but it sounds like I can use anything.

ARP used to do that, too.

Looks vaguely bangers'n'mash-ish. I had some shrimp for breakfast.

In all fairness, I contributed as well. I'm not entirely at peace with myself on this.

Really, all you got out of all of that was the tone, and not the content? Learn to read, man. There have been some plenty legitimate criticisms of your posts amongst as many which, admittedly, said nothing. You need to be able to read past the language and see if there are any legitimate criticisms that pertain to you. Do you not understand the dynamic? There's only one of you, there's more than one of the rest of us. All of us -- all of us that post, that is -- have this disease that says, "I think I can explain it better to this guy than anyone else on here", so you're always -- always -- going to get multiple posts to every one of yours. I'm not going to deny that it can be deemed cyber-bullying, but this isn't high school, you aren't required to attend. If you can't stand the heat, then get out of the kitchen. And to the rest of you complaining about the state of this thread -- fuck you. Quit contributing to this shitstain in an otherwise great thread -- quit being part of the problem.

Besides the ever-present Knucks' showreels, I am currently listening to Tangerine Dream's official bootleg series.

Kitty Talk
Not my cat, but this could easily be a picture of my Bobby when he was younger. Now he either meatloafs or lies on his back.

Westworld
I already finished it once, and I'm going to do it again once the show is over. Also: wow. Very emotional episode.

Well, except for the part about why I listen to music, that was correct. And I definitely find tube distortion pleasant. When I first got that unpronouncable chinese amp, it distorted like crazy, but I couldn't tell, because it made everything more pleasant. It also removed any detail -- any detail -- but definitely added euphony. Also, I read a theory somewhere (Bound for Sound?) that said that the way tubes distorted -- fewer higher order harmonics? -- was less offensive to the ear than the way transistors distorted, and therefore transistors needed lower distortion numbers, otherwise the distortion was more easily heard. Moreso, that the nature of the higher second order harmonics tended to mask the the spurious frequencies created by harsh digital filters. Debunk or confirm?

Interesting. Thanks for the correction.

I don't see the problem with a tubed DAC, just don't claim it has more fidelity than one without a tube. Tubes add a very pleasant distortion that nicely ...uh...counteracts? ...digititis. <-- See that word, 'distortion'? That's the opposite of fidelity. However, in small amounts, it can add euphony to a system, and that's certainly why I listen -- for the almost euphoria. Wink -- run on sentence much? There were multiple thoughts there, so maybe ... stream of consciousness much?
