Yeah, I listened to that, too. My tastes must've changed radically in the last couple years.

Nice! I hope you find many many hours of enjoyment playing it. Last guitar I got was an Ibby George Benson LGB30.

He did say, "properly fitted", and I do remember them being extremely sensitive to position.

Luke Cage Oh, look, it's Remy Danton. Also: greatest soundtrack I've heard in a long time. Little slow so far, but I dig it.

I went and saw 4/6 of my favourite recent discovery band, Bent Knee. Apparently, they don't do weddings, but this guy who was their biggest fan ever got them to play their rehearsal dinner, so they opened the doors to fans after the dinner. And because they were 4/6, they couldn't do entirely Bent Knee material, but apparently all of the members have their own projects, so I got to see mini sets from all of them. It was like getting my favourite band deconstructed, and then the deconstructions fleshed out. It was like someone had dissected a frog, took out all the constituent parts, painted them psychedelic colours, then displayed them in some sort of weird art exhibit, naive to the horror. It was glorious. I could tell while I was living it that the event was unique -- not only was this something they had never attempted before, I doubt they would ever attempt it again. And if they did, it'd be different. And, yeah, they played some Bent Knee material. They played some new songs that they had never played before. I'm on cloud 9... Oh, and I got to have a moment with Courtney (lead singer) to share our mutual love of Shiina Ringo, and I got to hug Jessica (and Courtney and Ben). (But I not-so-secretly have a thing for Jessica, so that was specialest.)

Ah! Ah ah ah.

Lollers -- actually, I meant both his and yours.

Sounds like a Morrissey song.
-
Damn, they both look delicious.

The red ones are pretty visually loud as well, but for some reason, I'm alright with them. But the blue ones put me in mind of those bright LEDs that some audiophile equipment have, that just hurt my eyes. It's too vibrant.

I love Focal, but these are some ugly ass speakers: Much prefer the red ones, the black ones (of course) and even the white ones to these.

Happy anniversary, Carl and Bonnie! Really happy for you both, especially this year. And cheers to Steve and Al's collaboration of love.

Great years. You both had great great years. And it's because you're really, really great people. I don't know, this is what people say, thousands of people are telling me. Believe me, I've got my people looking into it. It'll be amazing. Believe me. And your next 25 years? They'll be great again.

Actually, when I say, 'audiophile music', I very specifically mean that music about which an article was written many years ago (Stereophile?), when the writer noticed that all the music being played at a certain audiophile show didn't present much of a challenge to the equipment to reproduce, almost guaranteeing it to sound good, as it was fairly sparse. It's alright and I own some, but do not listen to that kind of music usually. As Antonio says, it's only an occasional guilty pleasure. Back to the Cars, I actually thought Roy Thomas Baker no slouch. He may not be Phil Spector or Jeff Lynne or Alan Parsons or Mutt Lange, but he still won his fair share of accolades and respect among critics and peers.

Unfortunately, a lot of music I listen to is very artificial, and contain that bump of which you speak, which a lot of people find highly desirable. Tom Petty won't record with any other mic than the one he records with because of its sound signature. Grado's headphones notoriously accentuate that region. So I guess what I'm saying is that I've been pummeled into acceptance. Best resolution would mean either analog or high res digital -- SACD/DSD or DVD/DVD-A/Blu-Ray/24/96.

http://pitchfork.com/features/lists-and-guides/9948-the-50-best-ambient-albums-of-all-time/?page=1 Unrelated: I wonder whatever happened to Self-transforming Machine Elves..., whom I used to think were Self-Transforming Machine Elvises... Personally, one of my favourites:

Yeah, I just picked up both of those on SACD. You all want to listen to only audiophile music in high res, that's on you. Personally, I want to listen to the best resolution recordings of my favourite music (well, except for Rhino's Black Sabbath remasterings, which were ruined by the remastering more than the resolution). I understand that you people don't "get" my point of view, but I don't understand you all actively discouraging people from listening to their favourite music that way.

Pretty!

Spaetzle und Kugel -- Not Your Average Joe's take on this very traditional dish, which is surprisingly...traditional (they usually have their own take on everything).
