  1. Unfortunately, a lot of music I listen to is very artificial, and contain that bump of which you speak, which a lot of people find highly desirable. Tom Petty won't record with any other mic than the one he records with because of its sound signature. Grado's headphones notoriously accentuate that region. So I guess what I'm saying is that I've been pummeled into acceptance. Best resolution would mean either analog or high res digital -- SACD/DSD or DVD/DVD-A/Blu-Ray/24/96.

  3. Yeah, I just picked up both of those on SACD. You all want to listen to only audiophile music in high res, that's on you. Personally, I want to listen to the best resolution recordings of my favourite music (well, except for Rhino's Black Sabbath remasterings, which were ruined by the remastering more than the resolution). I understand that you people don't "get" my point of view, but I don't understand you all actively discouraging people from listening to their favourite music that way.
  4. Spaetzle und Kugel -- Not Your Average Joe's take on this very traditional dish, which is surprisingly...traditional (they usually have their own take on everything).
  5. Terence Bayler Frank Dickenson Buckwheat Zydeco
  6. Happy anniversary to you both.
  7. Takeout garlic pepper chicken frrom the same place as yesterday -- my long-time favourite dish that they make.
  8. ...are destroying...
  9. (drools more) It's like a flying saucer of deliciousness.
  10. Iliza Shlesinger, Confirmed Kills Hilarious Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse "I would tongue-pound her salty walrus any day of the week." :groucho:
  11. New Pallbearer: https://profoundlorerecords.bandcamp.com/album/fear-and-fury
  12. Chang mai noodle at Siam Bistro -- my favourite thai food house is closed until mid October! So I went to another one that I haven't been to in a few months that I've been meaning to go to anyway. It was still delicious, but I ended up putting something from all four of the spice tray spices (fish oil, sambal oelek, crushed peppers and I don't know what the fourth one is, but I used it anyway - jalapeƱos suspended in vinegar?) and brought it up to a palatable level of heat.
  13. Me too, now.
  14. ...or otherhow prepared incorrectly, yes, this.
  15. Happy birthday! (party favour noise)
  16. Yeezh. I hate strep. Drink plenty of fluids, make sure you are fed (your immune system needs fuel to fight the good fight), get plenty of rest.
  17. Popcorn by "Life by Dallas" "Garlic Overdose" flavored In other words, addictive as crack
  18. I like the sound of that.
  19. Shape of Despair, Monotony Fields -- a nice return to form after Illusions's Play (2004 album that followed the epic Shades of... and Angels of Distress) and Shape of Despair (2005 album). There's also Written in My Scars EP which I will have to check out, but it's not on their bandcamp. And apparently they have a first album/demo, Alone in the Mist. Doom Metal -- the slowest, most funereal doom metal. Spine-tinglingly great. EDIT: Oh, okay, it (Alone in the Mist) is by a previous incarnation, "Raven":
  20. Especially considering it wasn't that successful a movie. Was it? I mean, I saw it, but that doesn't mean a whole lot, I was seeing a movie a week back then. But I don't remember it generating a whole lot of discussion.
  21. I think that's all relative. My tolerance for cruft has seriously declined. I mean, besides, isn't it all about the signal to noise ratio?
  22. Cardiacs, Sing to God -- unholy carp, this is gloriously mental.
  23. Listen, chaff, blow elsewhere.
