I still like Bent Knee because they're wilder and more varied, but damn if I'm not instantly in love. I think this might take second place for album of the year, if the rest of it as good as this.
  2. Cowboy Junkies, Notes Falling Slow (ly...sic) -- goddamn, I love Cowboy Junkies, especially their slower numbers. Reminds me of the desert and being able to breathe. I could just rewind this to the beginning and...actually, I think I will.
  3. Indeed. RIP police officers in Baton Rouge. Fuck people. I'm going to just become a hermit. What he said.
  4. Lollers, my eyes went straight to the girl...or crossdresser, or whatever that is...looks like a girl to me...are you sure that's a gay club? Or perhaps they're just looking for good dance partners...
  5. Just finished True Blood. Damn if seasons 6 & 7 didn't make up for season 5. Season 7, in particular, despite some minor flaws, might've been my favourite season.
  6. I kept getting this ad for Argonauts on Facebook, so I read it. I actually really enjoyed it. It's not the best written, but the premise (a cyberpunk update of Jason and the Argonauts) has a lot of interesting thoughts well thought-out. And I actually kind of enjoyed the whole idea of a "hero" coming to grips with needing a team/support staff.

  8. Yeah, WTF is wrong with people. RIP 84 people in Nice.
  9. Fixed that for me. I've been going back and forth between NuForce and HRT. They both have entries with 24/192 capabilities.
  10. Heal well, heal without complications, heal completely -- ... are my wishes.
  11. Yeezh. Here's to hoping...
  12. Epic. I love the fact that it's officially endorsed on the Game of Thrones YouTube channel.
  13. Mmm...fried brussel sprouts....
  14. The Mystery Lights -- they rock so hard. The lead singer/guitarist in particular is pretty wild. They only played one song that I didn't know that wasn't from the album, but several other members of the audience seemed to know it, so it must be an older number. I can't wait until they develop more of a repertoire so they can do a longer show. They did jam a bit, though, especially when they were having technical difficulties, which almost made me wish they had more technical difficulties. And the dufus photographer planted himself in front of me towards the end of the set and started thrust dancing in front of me and started backing into me which kind of ruined the moment so I shouldered him (I was drenched with sweat from the small walk from the Metro stop) later. Didn't make me feel any better, but hopefully he'll read my post on Facebook (I posted to the event, I think) and get the message. Left part way through Night Beats -- not because they weren't any good, they were great -- but because I'm an old geezer that has to get home by his bedtime. I will definitely listen to more of them on bandcamp, I definitely liked what I heard. Although not as much as Mystery Lights, they were the reason I went and I was very happy I did, ultimately.
  15. John Carpenter -- it was basically 75 minutes of this: ...with some footage from the movies during the movie songs, and fancy lighting during the tracks from Lost Themes I & II. It was heaven -- love synthesizers and guitars together, and instrumental music is teh bestest. He dances like my mom, though, so that was kind of distracting. Oh, and he threw in some trivia here and there ("I did 5 movies with this guy, but I don't think we ever had as much fun as when we did this one: Big Trouble.") And they false started They Live -- stopped, all put on sunglasses, continued -- so I did, too. Yeah, that was fun.
  16. I have met my idol (hint: count the number of strings these pickups are for):
  17. Regarding Roadies -- Thinking perhaps that Showtime was on preview...and now it isn't, since I don't technically have Showtime. Watching Preacher now -- FUCK this is good. They are really doing the graphic novel series justice. And the tagline is perfect: How can a show this bad be this good? I has a sad, though.
  18. I already have tickets to see them live. Don't care if it's a 20 minute set, I <3 this act so hard...I mean, it's just perfect from beginning to end...and thanks for pointing out the Jack White and Doors touchpoints -- I felt them both subconsciously, but they were different enough that I had a hard time putting my finger on either one...it's definitely got that 'wild' singing, borderline out of control, full of soul, ripe with attitude, for which I am....thankful...dammit, almost had a rhyme for that...
  19. Comcast made the mistake of giving me access to everything I watch on TV via computer -- I have become a total couch potato. Mostly True Blood, though. Watched the first episode of Roadies, tried to watch the second, it wouldn't let me. Not sure what changed...
  20. It's funny, I've been frequenting guitar forums a lot lately, so I read this as wanting to improve the quality of the distortion of an amp (as in more, not less). @ self
