RIP Arthur Folasa Ah Loo, an innocent bystander shot and killed while peacekeepers were pursuing someone with an AR-15, at the No Kings rally in Salt Lake City. He was a beloved member of the community, and "dressed" some pretty famous people in the style of his Pacific Islander culture. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/asian-america/man-killed-no-kings-protest-salt-lake-city-designer-ah-loo-rcna213296?utm_source=firefox-newtab-en-us

I totally went down the Kardi rabbit hole. I love hard pop. The girl has such a crazy soulful voice, and that vibrato is just (chef's kiss), yet the music they play rocks my socks right off. Kinda reminds me of Shirley/Garbage.

That's the spirit! Of course, that one's kind of cheating, since it references Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper's Delight", but still, it's brilliant.

Part of the problem is the earworminess of the original tune. So, to start, pick a song that you find greater-than-or-equal-to in its earworminess. For example:

Yeah, that sounds right!

Ohmigosh, I love "This House". So melodramatic. Right up there with "Winter Kills" in terms of depressing music. (For some reason, I'm always reminded of an SNL skit of a desperate, drunk woman in her apartment, "I'll shout from my window, to anyone listening: 'I'm losing!'" 🤣 ) In my top 10 favourite songs with her singing, with "All Cried Out", "Where Hides Sleep", "Winter Kills", "Goodbye Seventies", and others. I first discovered it as the B-side to "Love Letters", with a guitar solo instead of that bridge section. This is that version:

I'd be lying if I said anything other than, I want this computer: ...or perhaps just some run time on it.

It's based on a real woman -- Deja Solis. The artist, Marco Cochrane -- a Burning Man devotee, go figure -- has done it before. It's an artistic interpretation of the answer to the question, "What would the world be like if women were safe?" Quite frankly, we need this in the world right now. Right after those disgusting words were posted a while back, shortly after Trump took office, "Your Body, My Choice," by wannabe rapists, we need this in the world. Sometimes, I hate my entire half of the human race.

Those are always uplifting, and I could use that today. Thanks for that.

A day late, but I moved. No longer in MAGA Warren county. Much relief, shoulder and neck tension down, anxiety down, blood pressure down, much relief...

Supertramp, Live in Paris '79 -- great gig, all their top songs, zero filler, very great. I was reminded how the second half of "Child of Vision" is just one long -- stonkin' -- piano solo, very much like The The's "Uncertain Smile". Compare:

A very belated condolences, Steve. I'm glad you got to talk to her, but wow, what timing. You've been really put through the ringer, lately. 😔

https://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/八十八ヶ所巡礼/八+九/ New (?) 88kasyo junrei double album -- I recognize several of the tracks, probably because they were released as singles and I ate them up, but I'm still not sure (because language barrier, and they're weird anyway) if this is a compilation or entirely new music, but whatever, I'm loving it.
