  1. So I'd have to transfer my SIM card...wait, I don't have a SIM card? Yes, want. Will look into it. Thanks.
  2. Lollers -- that would have been faster than 99% of USA, but it's only faster than 90% of Japan.
  3. Incorrect. I didn't hate the Droid after a year, and I got it 'cause it was free.
  4. I blame smartphones/Facebook/Foursquare/YouTube/de-evolution. But to be fair, in the DC area, that's always been the case, it's just gotten worse recently. My earplugs do a pretty good job of blocking out vocal content without blocking out the ridiculously amplified music.
  5. Yeah, we don't talk about headphones any more, just drinking. Kidding; welcome back; etc. If memory serves, recabling is necessary, but nothing stands out. The biggest difference is going from stock to pretty much any decent upgrade cable. I prefer the Cardas, but that's MHO. Sure wouldn't hurt to get a balanced one to go with your amp. 4 pin XLR? Might see if one of the DIY guys would solder something together for you. And yes, if you're going for comfort, you can't do much better than the Sennheiser HD600/HD580/HD650. Excellent choice.
  6. Was: A Thing called Divine Fits Is: Hot Chip, In Our Heads Should Be: Bruno Mars Just in a poppy/groovy/slightly off-kilter mood
  7. Mike still hates them.
  8. It's really fucking bad, and so is my eyesight. The latter is getting worse every day. I couldn't tell the difference between porn and emoticons without glasses. Seriously considering seeing if I qualify for Lasik. I have to admit, the touchscreen (and the phone, for that matter) is finally beginning to fail and I am looking at getting a new one, but thinking of going cheap and getting a Pantech Marauder or Lucid or Rhyme or some such.
  9. Finished Season 2 of Sherlock.
  10. I still have an original Droid. Ever think of wiping your fingers before you touch your touchscreen, Mr. Greasy? Yes, this is I-feel-like-ragging-on-Brent day.
  11. (squints) So what is it you drive again, Mr. Armchair Critic?
  12. I like the recent Mustangs just because I like the idea of a 5.0 in that size car. I have actually said to a complete stranger, "how do you keep it on the ground?" "Spoiler."
  13. Good thoughts Ken's kitty's way.
  14. They don't (make sense to me neither, that is). I don't understand at all how the (current) DSP-corrected JH-13's can sound any different than (current) DSP-corrected JH-16's. Don't they both have ranges well outside of human hearing? Phase delay and psychology notwithstanding.
  15. Pfff -- punters ride Segways.
  16. No-one expects their first batch to be good enough to share, so the fact that it was is a good sign, but not all that surprising considering the source. That pasta dish sounds really good, too. I had an outstanding dish earlier tonight at Tommy Thai. It started out as their "garden" (meat and vegetables), then made extremely garlicky and medium spicy. Outstanding. (Dan -- that's in Springfield -- I've also discovered a really great place in Merrifield called Elephant Jumps that I can highly recommend.)
  17. Did something to my shoulder last night, didn't sleep well last night as a result. Got up at sunrise. Fed the cats. Finally got comfortable at 10am. Slept until 4. went to dinner and movies with friend. All in all, a good day for someone who's geezin'.
  18. Reminiscent of more recent ELO (e.g., Zoom) and his work with Traveling Wilburys. I.E. less "electronic", no violin flourishes, and a more general Beatles-y-ness to the songwriting. Me: Can't decide, was listening to Stevie Wonder earlier, not sure whether to go back to IAMX...will probably nix all and watch Sherlock.
  19. Good catch. Yes, that is definitely a good plan. Adding a sub might be all you need. And then maybe supertweeters.
  20. Engrish ~= 0.5 cuils
  21. There you go, he told you it was a scam, so now it is safe to buy them in a drunken stupor. We're all about stupidly buying stuff in drunken stupors. Sometimes we buy drunken stupors.
  22. Save travels, and may your macintop's temperament be 'willing' during those crucial hours.
  23. Caravan Palace -- French, glitchy, retro electro. RIYL The Real Tuesday Weld, the background music to the Gentleman Rhymer Very upbeat, great fun, makes me happy, makes me dance. Makes me throw my back out, ackshully.
  24. Unholy carp. I did not know that. I was ready to go off on my rant that "professional <anything that costs money>" is an oxymoron. Withdrawn.
