  1. :/
  2. Wait, where'd you see that? I only saw the white with a neon green cable. EDIT: Got it. [dilbertian]ooo[/dilbertian], black.
  3. Lamb Pumpkin Panang curry -- I love pumpkin season, as this is one of my favorite dishes from Pilin.
  4. Unicorn.
  5. Or, you could just buy stuff. ...I mean, for home audition, and then return it (if within the return period), or sell it off (otherwise). Really, sometimes, that's what it takes to decide on something as subtle as source/DACses. Buy it (preferably used, at a price that you can resell it for later), then give it a decent amount of listening time. Or you could just throw them in the closet and forget you had them later.
  6. I don't remember paying no $49.95, and I have access. I think. Don't use it all that much. (Obviously.) ...er, nope, they don't respond when I click "forgot mah password". EDIT #2: I have access, but not to the Golden Ears Club stuff, of which this is one. So you get a lot for free, you just get a little bit more for the $49.95, and -- I suspect -- sooner. I suspect the review will be made available for free in 9 months or so when it's obsolete, or something...
  7. That's true, and since they sound so good without external amplification, I think your take on it is probably more accurate. How could they possibly sound moar better? That said, the underlying question -- whether or not they are "worthy" of centering a home system around -- the answer is obviously, 'yes'. I don't think their nature (IEM) should be an influence -- that was just a design choice by the manufacturer, because he thought he could get better sound than from headphones or earspeakers.
  8. I actually kind of was answering your question -- I don't have a pair myself, but others have been jettisoning whole systems, but keeping the JH13. So I suspect the answer is, 'yes, they do scale well, and one would think, fairly high'. Based on zero experience, for the record. I see no problem centering a system around them, just because they're IEM's. They're very well designed IEM's, from everything I've gathered.
  9. The JH13's are better than crack.
  10. Wait, whut? I totally missed that. They've essentially created a streaming device, and that's it? That's a completely different device. And yes, I have no need for it.
  11. Urban biathlon?
  12. I definitely like the size of the new one.
  13. Triathlon?
  14. QFtehLulz. You must be really off your game, go get some rest, drink plenty of fluids, and have some chicken soup. Er...not necessarily in that order (save the 'rest' for last).
  15. I Robot Chicken. Yeah, that's real, only that's not an installation. It does a trick with standing waves, which is crucial to the whole technology. So yeah, must find pic with enclosure.
  16. Hi, Jax! Nice pix, I especially like those last two.
  17. Finishing: Hiromi, Brain About to Start: Hiromi, Spiral On Deck: Hiromi's Sonicbloom, Time Control & Beyond Standard ...all SACD... Hmmm...I wonder where my copy of Another Mind is...and I'm really disappointed to see that Place to Be isn't being made available on SACD...
  18. Yeah, I kind of wish I had jumped on that deal that was posted a few weeks (?) ago.
  19. I really hope you're wrong about that. But you're quite convincing. Maybe, by 'everything', he meant, "what? No, I'm not going to change the iPod classic, that would be like new Coke/Classic Coke all over again, I'm not that stupid". Here's to hoping that it stays that way.
  20. Thanks for the explanation, I do think you captured that look well. And I know what you mean -- one of my music loves is synthpop. And sometimes, when I'm waxing eloquent about it, and talking about its purity, I'll say something to the effect of, "it's what the future sounded like back then, and it still does". "Futurepop" is one of the terms that they used to describe one of the subgenres now, and I mentally always prefix it with "retro-".
  21. No, it's really just his mouth. The circle is invisible. It's like the whole picture, and he's facing left, and slightly upward.
  22. I see Pac-Man. And: congrats -- it's always nice to see someone really doing what they want to be doing.
  23. Quit ruining my snarky sarcasm with reality, fucker!
  24. Well it's either drive with my left foot, or left foot has to go out the window and drive with my right, innit?
