  1. update us at head-fi
  2. Local storage in that I use itunes sharing, not NAS to access my itunes. The itunes library's primary function is that of video serving for my kids. I then use itunes sharing to listen to the songs on my office computer. When listening that way, amarra reports "itunes" instead of "on", just as if I was using alac.
  3. Eh, I'm willing to go with aiff if it means better sound, but not with aiff and local storage for everything
  4. Yup, that's where I am
  5. It seems like it also doesn't like remote libraries. I'd have to change how I host files to make it work for me.

  11. Given how often calculus comes up in most peoples' lives, it's really not surprising that concepts that foreign to most people are a challenge for them. That you have a skill they don't doesn't make you superior.
  12. Happy Birthday Mr. Johnson.
  13. airport works great with pc
  14. It's good for you to deal with people like that
  15. more horsepower is better. More important is to get good bits. And think about getting a good router table, too. Seriously tho, get the newest airport extreme. Gigabit switch, can run 2 separate wireless networks at the same time.
  16. if that's how you read that, then there's the 2nd option...
  17. just like I predicted
  18. You weren't being bullied, you were being criticized. If you don't like the criticism, there are 2 potential solutions: 1) listen to what is being said, and learn from it. 2) Go away, and stop reading it.
  19. We've gone so hypothetical that I can no longer follow what it is you're trying to say.
  20. No one said it wasn't a good amp (I haven't heard one, so I couldn't say), just that HPA's reviews are always positive.
  21. No, I'm not saying that. It all depends on the master. You'd want dither to prevent bit alignment errors in almost every situation. When you convert from higher bit depths to lower, you have to do soemthing to make sure there's no bit alignment errors from the conversion, and you want to make sure to remove excess headroom to make sure you don't lose data. If you have 80db of data, but leave 30db of headroom (reasonable when recording in 24bit), you need to move everything up, so you only leave 6db of headroom.
  22. 24bit audio doesn't need to be dithered when played back at 24 bits, right. If you mean playing back 24 bit audio at 16 bit, then you definitely need to dither, unless it was mastered for 16 bit compatibility.
  23. Me too. I bubble wrapped the poop out of those postage pounds...
  24. 3 lbs of postage to spain
