Al, for anyone else, I'd say it's a good economical choice. But I know you have really high standards. I wouldn't be willing to bet the korg is better than the duet, for example.
It comes with software to offload the files. But you're still stuck with nearly useless files. DSD is awfully niche. The conversion software is apparently ok. But I'd still think what dotu is shooting for is higher end than this.
The MR1 is a cool little box, but then you have to convert it to pcm (96/24, 192/24, or whatever). And the adc abd dac aren't gonna be on a par with what dotu is shopping for.
it's not random, it's 0s for bitrate, and for 48 to 96, it's interpolated.
No one changes anything going from 16 to 24, it's just padding. Going from 44 or 48 to 96, interpolation algorythms matter.
I have moved almost entirely away from playing dvds. I rip them to itunes, and play them that way. I'll probably just add a lot more storage to itunes and do that with bluray too, when the price of bluray drives comes down.
