  1. Yup, for natural stereo recordings, I prefer ORTF or mid-side recordings. But for what chris wants, it's a different matter My goal is to one day own a soundfield ST350 (or whatever replaces it) for location recording.
  2. He overcharges for his labor, be careful
  3. The 6sn7s are for the single ended outputs. The 6sn7s are fed ground instead of input if you're using hte headphones. The single ended outputs are always active. There's a contradiction there.
  4. Those two statements contradict each other.
  5. because the default usb audio driver is for usb 1.1, and was written to handle 48/16. Other people have custom drivers or custom chipsets that can handle more, and run at usb2 speeds.
  6. a bag with 3 craps in it (coupon code snail, if you can get through)
  7. Flickr: Upgrade to a pro account $24.95/yr, less if you go longer
  8. large and medium format cameras are definitely not for birding. APS-C is the format that will suit birding best, imho. LF and MF cameras are best used in studio settings, or for other shots where long exposure times are acceptable.
  9. The advantage, to my understanding, of medium and large format is that for a given field of vision (or effective focal length), you get more realistic and dramatic depth of field. And, as with the difference between pocket cameras and SLRs, the larger the sensor and the larger the glass for the equivalent FOV, you get a cleaner image with higher contrast, lower noise, and better overall image clarity.
  10. Given that it's a B52 + a stat amp in one box, I can't believe it will be cheaper than a B52.
  11. Ah, I don't ever turn my dac off or unplug it.
  12. The church mics share a lot in common with len's mics (core sound), but are considerably cheaper
  13. I've never had that problem, my settings stick. I just tried and verified that.
  14. Send a message to church through ebay, he can set you up wtih exactly what you want for a great price (and way better than the sony mics for the same pricerange)
  15. A 16 bit signal and a 24 bit signal on output are exactly the same, when you're sending 16 bits.
  16. dpa4060s aren't hte clone, they are very good, very sensitive, small microphones. Talk to me about budget and size requirements and I can point you in the right direction.
  17. My experience with the duet says the best setting is to go for about 1/2 volume on line out (not instrument out). Use your ears and find the level that works best for the input on your amp. For the mac, go to audio midi settings, set it to 24/96, and just leave it there. Core audio upsampling is pretty darn good. Always launch itunes AFTER you change those settings. or you'll get the resampling done inside itunes, which is terrible.
  18. lens geometry can't be fixed in photoshop.
  19. I wanted a dairy sink for my alaska kitchen, but it's not practical to custom order things that are that heavy to alaska...
