  1. The comcast dvr is tivo now? I may have to switch to cable.
  2. You can with a mac create a network. It'd be wifi, and then your ipod touch would connect to THAT netowrk (and nothing else, basically) in order to control the mini.
  3. VNC and signal don't actually stream anything, they just control your computer. And if you have the mini create it's own wireless network, it doesn't have to talk on the work network at all. Just have the touch link up to the mini's created network.
  4. I think I'm gonna pick up a newertech ministack v2 and a 750gb pata drive. Stacks with the mini, can more than handle the performance needs of a media server.
  5. If you're close to getting the picos, I'd still get them, then sell one and buy a duet
  6. Get the airport express (or a timecapsule). You won't regret it.
  7. I'd get a pico and a duet, rather than 2 picos or 2 duets, personally. Then you can decide for yourself.
  8. My mini is where my airport was, so yes, I still use it at home. Works like a champ. The big advantage it has over sailing clicker etc is full access to the playlists, and displays album art, etc. I absolutely love signal. I'm seriously considering an ipod touch because of how much better it's supposed to work, too.
  9. I use a nokia 770 instead of the touch, and modified signal to work better with it, but that's not an option for most people
  10. I'd use VNC to manage it, and get an ipod touch + signal to control itunes, instead of getting a monitor...wait, not only would I, it's what I did . Unless you plan on using it for more than just media duty.
  11. No, wait to tell him until after you've done the work
  12. The nokia 770 or ipod touch or iphone + signal works well. Portable dvd player w/ ipod dock and video in is a good alternative, and relatively cheap, too I like the signal option best because I also have a vnc client on it when I need to control the system, but otherwise, it works just like a great little remote.
  13. There are lots of little dvd players with video in, too. Just get a composite video dongle if you need one. Lots of alternatives. I also use signal to control it.
  14. I just use remote desktop to manage the mini. It's not like I do't have a laptop, I just don't want it attached to my dac
  15. mac mini + either internal drive upgrade (500gb will be possible soon) or external drives + dac
  16. You're embarrassing...
  17. You could saw them in half, and attach a 5" piece of wood to make them wide enough...
  18. I don't see value in cartridges other than 9mm and .45 for handguns. You can get REALLY small 9mms these days for when you need really concealed, and if a .45 doesn't knock em down, you're dead anyway. The other cartridges are designed to sell guns.
  19. Don't go as a vendor, and you can sleep on the sofa in my room
  20. I'll pay your entry into canjam for those
  21. That's never how I read it. I read it as only the air had it at that time. The pro definitely has it, regardless.
  22. I think the macbook didn't get the multitouch trackpad, anyway, just the pro
  23. Look at it this way: Someone comes into your house, acts like an ass, and leaves. Repeat 80 times. Then he comes in, says "oh, sorry, won't do that again" Do you immediately invite him to your mom's baht mitzvah?
