  1. Well you know Milwaukee is pretty close for the Chicago meets. Sounds like a great opportunity, welcome to the Midwest.
  2. Luckily, we have no woodchucks in the immediate vicinity. The moles are bad enough.
  3. Oh so very close. Just a big old hickory stick. That was back in my younger days, not sure I could do it now. We've lived in both South Carolina and South Dakota, where it is just about illegal to not own firearms. then again, you do live in Texas, so nevermind. BTW, how did we move from raccoons to woodchucks? I think I'm getting too old to keep up.
  4. ^^^ This, adults are territorial an stubborn. We were running a small mammal trpping grid and had problems with raccoons, "running" the trap lines. We were told to trap and relocate the animals. We marked and moved them over 20 miles from the grid. They returned in 3 nights, actually probably faster, but that is when they were retrapped. We then permanently removed them from the grid. Never ran into armed raccoons, but then again I haven't spent much time around Cincinnati.
  5. As long as you are fairly close, under 25 yards, my Marlin 39a has been quite effective on SC raccoons. Would like to try a .460 Weatherby and .500 Nitro Express sometime, probably not on raccoons though.
  6. I would not use a pellet rifle on a full grown raccoon, it will just piss them off.
  7. If you do not mind my asking, where are you moving to?
  8. With camera stuff I have always stuck with B&H. They have always been great and never tried to screw me over, which I cannot say about other vendors. Not always the cheapest but to me the lack of hassle has always been worth it.
  9. I have an older Manfrotto carbon fiber tripod and l like it a lot.
  10. Just returned from The Carolina BBQ. South Carolina style pulled-pork BBQ and the best hushpuppies EVAR! Peter's comment was, "I wish we could live here".
  11. Excellent decision Doug, my advice to people is they should only pursue an advanced degree if it is what they want and love to do. I look forward to the first tasting.
  12. Those are absolutely beautiful. After seeing Steve's pair in person I am in awe of the craftsmanship.
  13. I actually lost my 3g service for a day while we were traveling last week. Called AT&T the next day and they reset my SIM. Been fine since then.
  14. ^^^ I'm extremely impressed with your contributions to humanity.
  15. Read your welcome PM and don't be an asshat. Not an auspicious start.
  16. Might want to take your own advice.
  17. Just a dig at Rachel Ray Old Pa, not your oil. Now go have a glass of cab.
  18. Isn't that EVOO?
  19. Just finished some calamari salad, one shrimp spring roll and one avocado spring roll all washed down with a Paulaner Hefeweizen.
  20. I wish it was only 90 down here (SC).

Happy Father's Day to all the HC Dads and Grandads, old and new.
  22. Put me on the list, my gear is always deadly serious.
  23. Happy Happy Birthday Lily! :prettyprincess:
  24. Happy Birthday David, have great day.
  25. Any of the old Townes van Zandt albums are good to check out. I really like "Live at the Old Quarter". Also check out "Live at the Bluebird Cafe" which is Townes, Steve Earle and Guy Clark, who is also worth checking out on his own. Oh, and three thumbs up on the Old and in the Way. How can Jerry Garcia and Vasser Clements doing Bluegrass be bad?
