Running For St. Judes
Yep. I'm pretty sure I know who it was, but I'll let them confess on their own if they want to. Karen thought I was crazy I was laughing so hard.

Deals
Anyone who even thinks they want an Airmotiv speaker needs to jump on this. If mine was a return they must not have even taken it out of the carton. Even with shipping, those prices are great.

Downloaded IOS7 on the iPhone 4S. Seems a little snappier already but that could well be my imagination. I like iTunes radio already.

Running For St. Judes
So it's that time of year again. Karen will be running in the Chicago Marathon for St. Jude's Children's Hospital on 10/13. If of are so inclined her contribution page is here. Even if you decide not to contribute, please wish her luck as she is crazier this year than most. She has been trying to run in the New York marathon for 4 years, but since it is a lottery she has not got in. This year she did, but the results were released after she had registered for Chicago. Therefore, she will be running two marathons less than a month apart (New York is on 11/3 this year) and needs all the luck she can get in my opinion.

Ipod Touch / Iphone
Android was a huge cluster fuck when connected to our in house created mail and calendar system. So the main reason we shifted was to get a phone that actually worked with our email and calendar. However, almost every aspect of the IOS/iPhone ecosystem has worked better and/or faster than on any of the Android devices. Never going back to Android unless something truly spectacularly stupid happens with Apple. So the plan was to update to the 5c to get LTE. Also will switch back to Verizon from Sprint since Sprint has no LTE anywhere close to Charleston. However, that may change as the more I learn about the camera system on the 5s, the more I think that it more than makes up for the price difference.

Ipod Touch / Iphone
^^^ This! The 4s is just fine as a, you know, phone. It is my primary device for phoning, texting and receiving alarms and notifications. Most other things are done on the IPad retina.

Help me help a friend spec out a new HT/multi-room rig
The Marantz is used primarily for HT duty. It gets a bit of 2 channel use but for casual listening. I think it sounds good but in reality the Marantz is just a pre so mainly switching and bass management of the fronts and sub. The speakers are Energy Veritas 2.3i powered by older Outlaw monoblocs with an older, their first I think, Outlaw sub. I like Steve's suggestion though. I have been happy with all Emotiva gear I have owned. The Airmotiv speakers are ridiculously good for the price and the Stealths look to be even better. Big fan of active speakers both for system simplicity and sound. @shelly - I leave my Airmotivs powered on in the office since I listen to them whenever I am there. The headphones get little use now. I am sure it annoys some of my colleagues, but that's just a bonus.

Help me help a friend spec out a new HT/multi-room rig
I've used several systems over the years to move music from room to room. None have worked as well as airplay. It just works. And like it or not other manufacturers are using it as a standard. It is one of the reasons I bought my Marantz PrePro.

Help me help a friend spec out a new HT/multi-room rig
If he is a Mac person then airplay is the scheme I have settled on at home and in my office "suite" for moving all my music around from one central location. All you need in each satellite room are speakers and amp ( or powered speakers) and an airplay capable DAC or an Airport Express and any old DAC. I used to be a Logitech Harmony groupie but using Roomie Remote on my devil made phone and tablet beats the hell out of any Logitech remote I have used. Even with all the in app add-ons it is cheaper than all but the cheapest Harmony remotes.
