  1. No, drove back around it and came around the backside of the neighborhood that has no street access. So never violated any barricades and we were about a mile and a half from the epicenter of the craziness.
  2. Wow, even Viking splinters are big and nasty! Weird day today. Went to a soccer tournament held in CU with some of the games on UIUC fields. First game at 8:00 am, so get up around 5:30 and leave the house around 6:15. First game goes fine. Next game scheduled for 1:20. Run errands and have lunch. Starts raining at lunch. First game delayed until 2:00. Game set to start and ref refuses to allow the game because there is a puddle in front of one of the goals. Coaches parlee with ref and suggest that they move one goal forward about 10 yards and the other back 10 yards, moving the puddle back. Nope, campus rec says the goals cannot be moved but they will send someone out. Now, if you have ever tried to get anything done within a University bureaucracy, you can predict what happened. Two guys come out in their golf cart, survey and ponder the situation, attempt to squeegee off the water, get back in their cart, make a quick phone call and leave. Come back in about 5 minutes with a bigger squeegee. Another phone call, two more guys show up (one who used to play with ZZ Top). They all get out and survey the situation, another phone call. A supervisor arrives, they move one goal forward 10 yards, the other back 10 yards. The game finally starts at 4:00 pm. But that's not the weird part. So we get back into Charleston at about 6:15 pm and find that the street leading into our neighborhood is blocked. So we go around and approach from the opposite direction but it is blocked from that direction also. Find out that it is being blocked by the Charleston police, Coles County Sheriff SWAT Team and the State Police because some douchebag has barricaded himself inside of his house. So we drive around to the opposite side of the ravine that partially surrounds our neighborhood. Park the car at the end of that street, climb down the ravine, climb back up the opposite side of the ravine through our neighbors back yard and finally arrive back home at about 7:30 pm. I think I am going to write a novel.
  3. Left the house at 6:15 for a soccer tournament. Now sitting in a windy field.

    Deals

Yep, a great deal at that price.
  5. I actually discovered that once I got married I was able to shut off outside sounds completely.
  6. Nothing! It will now sound better.
  7. 149+5+12(5)=166(171) 5 years parenthetically living in sin.
  8. That sounds very cool Al. Great musician in a great venue.
  9. Well of course she's insane, look who she's married to.
  10. Karen's unofficial time was 4:48:45. Since she was slightly behind the Ethiopians, that's probably official enough.
  11. Had an awesome time once I decided to pay attention and actually found the place Started with a Sazerac, then a patio slammer, Corpse Reviver #2, a Hans Gruber, and an Aviation.
  12. Just got back to the hotel from Barrelhouse Flat with Mike, bryan and Allison. Awesome time with great people and great cocktails. Thanks for keeping me company tonight.
  13. Eating a late lunch/early dinner at the Palm restaurant with the family prior to the Barrelhouse Flat outing later.
  14. Heading up to Chicago for the Marathon tomorrow. Thanks again to everyone!
  15. I wasn't referring directly to the colors.
  16. I think Steve would like that one.
  17. Cool Beans Dan. I use spike cups and have no problem moving the BHSE around when I want to. But then again I'm a pretty manly man.
  18. No worries Chris. Family comes first as I am well aware. So now that we are a day away, is everyone's arrival time still the same? I still plan to arrive around 7.
  19. Yeah, all the IT guys I know hated and continue to hate Vista with a religious fervor.
  20. Borrrrrrrrrring!
  21. Actually I am still running an old slow laptop for a few legacy programs at home. It came with Vista, never had a problem with Vista, still running Vista. Probably the most stable Win machine I ever owned. I realize this experience is way out in the tail, but there you have it. Oh and I agree with Larry. Boot camp for me is not a real option on the MBA. I use it so much and I hate rebooting it since the sleep mode works so well. Parallels caused lots of beach balls and freezes on the MBA, so it was just too annoying.
  22. Yeah, and to be fair, my MBA is from the last non-thunderbolt generation.
  23. You can never have too many weapons for fighting zombies. Ask Jeff. Well let's see. I could use them as projectiles in my blunderbuss, or affix them to a stick for a spear, or to an arrow shaft as a heavy duty projectile or ... I like the way you think.
  24. Actually, I tried it with parallels and did not like the results at all. Parallels works great on my Mac Pro at work.
