  1. Yes but I would rather go with a higher vac trafo and set it to 10Vdc output than hope that the pre-reg voltage is high enough using a 9vac trafo for 9vdc. If you really have to use the 9vac then there are any number of low noise LDOs out there to use

  8. Definitely the worst part of Kicad is the libraries. One thing I learned the hard way (arcy sparky blowup) is don't assume the pins of the footprints are what you think they are, or even that they will stay consistent, or just make your own components and footprints. It is improving a lot recently from CERN intervention. I need to revisit Eagle as the integration into Fusion is very cool, but from what I remember it was very hard to use.

    Sitcoms

Agreed that most of them are crap, but the ones that are good are gold. Is it possible to like Parks and Rec and not The Office (US)? I think they had the same producer(s), and the first season of Parks was pretty much a carbon copy of The Office. It did diverge after that. Reminds me to check out the UK version. Laughs are what I'm looking for, yeah. I definitely liked the first few seasons of Archer, but got a little tired of it and haven't kept up recently, but probably should. I tried to get into it awhile back and couldn't for some reason. Will try again, thanks. Another one I need to retry is It's Always Sunny. Interesting, will look into it. Everyone keeps comparing Letterkenny to Trailer Park Boys so that might be one to try

    Sitcoms

There are plenty of sitcoms that don't have laugh tracks, including some of the ones I listed above, but I guess what makes them really bad is if I don't find the humor humorous which draws attention to the string of fake laughs every few seconds, especially if it's literally after every sentence. *goes to find list of sitcoms with live audiences*

    Sitcoms

I happened upon Letterkenny about a year ago and it's been great. Anyone have any recommendations for other good sitcoms? Not necessarily in the same vein. Other stuff I have seen and like: Seinfeld, first few seasons of That '70s show, The Office (US) before Michael Scott left, Parks and Rec, Arrested Development (not including the Netflix season). Sitcoms I hate: Big Bang Theory, 30 Rock, Two and a Half Men, anything with a horrendously fake laugh track
  12. Ooh, no refrigeration is nice. I have a separate compartment in my fridge for non foodstuffs, wonder how much it's seeped into my food over the years and made me insane. I put on the same heatsinks and thermal tape I used for the output devices on the regulators, and it does help some.
  13. Hm, I didn't personally find that to be a problem but on boards where there is a large/thick enough ground pour connected to the pad then I could see why there could be an issue.
  14. I think I've posted this before, but maybe not. It's pretty easy to solder the qfn with a hot air rework station. This is the method I came up with, which hasn't yet let me down: Put the solder paste on, melt it and make sure every pin has exactly the right amount of solder. Adjust as necessary. Put some flux on and then put the qfn on, then blow some more hot air to solder it in place. You can gently nudge the part with tweezers to adjust if it's slightly off. Hopefully this helps people in the future

  17. There is some variability between the internal reference voltages as well, but 0.1% overall is pretty damb chop good.
  18. If you don't want to use a hot air rework station then you're going to need a stencil of that package and to make sure the oven is flat. Hot air station can be had for like 50 bucks
  19. SRM-212 with lead acid battery has been done
  20. Sinusoidal waves tautologically don't have harmonics. I have tried the same test a long time ago (not with a Carbon) and you will hear something, in the form of flapping noises.
