  1. Sez Mr. 13,000-on-the-nose.
  2. We're supposed to be flying to Atlanta on Sunday. I wonder if the ATC system will be unfucked by then?
  3. Intermittent channel dropout, not input specific. And the buyer has been straightforward and polite about it, which is always a good sign. We'll see.
  4. Go and fire a few associates, Al. It'll make you feel better and boost the firm's PPP.
  5. Not remotely on the same scale as any of the above, but I just had my first gear trading screwup. Shipped a DAC up to Canada and it arrived semi-functional, allegedly. Refunded the buyer and asked him to send it back. Anyone care to give odds on the chance of me actually seeing it again?
  6. The 80s kicked ass. Or, in this case, branded it.
  7. Sorry for all the hard knocks recently, guys. Best wishes to all of you and your friends and family.

  9. OK, this is not good news for plasma lovers. tl;dr -- Panny admits the black level of its latest plasmas will degrade over time. Actual users are saying it's happening very quickly. Much more here. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1167339
  10. ^^^ That's a killer album. Soundgarden -- Superunknown
  11. Mule Design Studio's Blog: The Failure of Empathy Nice illustration.

  13. At least they make it in silver. (FWIW, I really enjoyed auditioning Harbeths for a couple of hours off the PW transport and DAC. Great sound, easy and intuitive to use. What chipses are they using, Dinny?)
  14. PJ Harvey -- To Bring You My Love Again. Kinda surprised to not see her pop up here more often among our female-fronted metal crowd. She's not metal, but she's dark as hell and can really rock out.
  15. Gimme an eff. Gimme an ohh. Gimme a tee. Gimme an emm.
  16. I agree, Mike. I think that if Amazon focus the Kindle on being the best e-reader possible there'll always be a niche for it given their economies of scale in distribution of content. But if, as this acquisition suggests, they're considering a cock length contest with Apple in the general-computing tablet space, they're going to eat shit and die.
  17. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict the Kindle Touch will be racing the JooJoo down the drain.
  18. PJ Harvey -- To Bring You My Love
  19. I think that applications like LogMeIn Ignition will also be killer on the iPad. I fixed some stuff on my Mom's PC in South Africa today from my iPhone and, while that's just kinda cool to contemplate, it's a bit painful to actually perform given the display size limitations. With the iPad and a fast Internet connection, though, you basically have an eminently usable portable extension of your main PC (or Mac) anywhere you go.
  20. Every time I hear "Monkey Gone To Heaven" I imagine Dinny plugging in a new DAC.
  21. The Pixies -- Doolittle MFSL Vinyl
  22. You ought to get some new cans to evaluate it with today, too. EDIT: Maybe tomorrow. At local sort facility last night.
  23. I heard you revolutionized the industry by doing away with the mop and bucket altogether. Slurp slurp.
  24. Dusty, I think multitasking is going to be like cut-and-paste was; despite all the moaning and mocking, it won't be included until it can be done right. My own guess is they're waiting for the next gen iPhone to have the processor power and battery life needed to allow it without degrading the rest of the user experience. It will be interesting to see how they implement task management given the open scorn Jobs has heaped on the standard WM/Android approach.
  25. And he meats out severe punishment!
