  1. In theory, Core Audio (the OS X audio engine) should be cool with anything up to 24/192. In practice, sometimes things get a little weird. And high rez files tend to sound very, very much like the source they were derived from. Ping me when you get home. I have some samples you may enjoy.

  3. Yes. (See user title) Oh all right. Quit iTunes. Type "audio midi setup" in Spotlight. Open Audio MIDI Setup. Select desired sample rate in the Audio Output dropdown menu. Close Audio MIDI Setup. Open iTunes. Play back your high rez files.

  6. Looks like your standard old kitten-kraken pulling a ship full of screaming sailors down to a watery grave? You should get out more, Monkey.
  7. That explain's Chris's preference then.
  8. I'll just refer you back to my written statement, congressman.
  9. Sia -- Some People Have Real Problems Very nice!

  13. Am really enjoying them with these on. Puts the bass pretty much right in between flats (too muddy for me) and bowls (a bit remote). Comfy, too. Disadvantage -- butt fugly.
  14. Yay dynamics. Stats boo hiss.
  15. Dewwwwwwwwww Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! For the paranoid among us, this is a neat little free utility, given that what few Mac attacks there currently have tended to try this vector.
  16. Heard a 1100 for the first time this weekend in Deepak's rig. Two thumbs up!
  17. Happy Birthday to you, two!

    Top Gear

Obviously not Top Gear, but this does appear to be the default gearhead thread. Wordless beauty etc.
  19. Van Halen -- Van Halen DCC Gold.
  20. Al, please ask him if the mini version supports FLAC and ALAC (or at least if it is going to down the road). I was a "hell no" at $1500, but am a "hmm, maybe" at $400.
