i wasnt aware of that policy either when i shacked with them.
  2. i only meant to say that this sudden influx of estat amps started when the bhse started gaining steam. since justin dealt the first blow with a big time stat amp, ray and jack had to release something to counter the offering from headamp. either that or 3 big names in the headphone amp business releasing stat amps one after the other or within close proximity is one hell of a coincidence. imo justin set the bar and now the others are trying to reach it. regardless, its a great looking amp.
  3. woo audio certainly know how to make some tasty looking amps. dont think ive ever seen an ugly woo amp. wonder what justin has started here...bhse followed by a10 followed by wes.
  4. the beta should drive those drivers beautifully. once finals are over, i hope to get to listen to the speakers once again but for now they remain neglected =/ i wasnt sure if the finish of the port was in question or whether the question was if it was just an opening or a port. i certainly did rush mark for the speakers as i wanted them to be a birthday present. given the constantly changing time lines i gave him i dont think he could have done a better job. once school starts again(in may) mike, you are welcome to give the pair in the first post a test run with your beta if you want to listen to them for a few days. i would be very surprised if they dont sound every bit as good as your system audios if not better.

thanks vicki and morphsci. only gear i have left is the parasound dac and the 650s. a job as an actuary is one that i might want to pursue later on so im going to try my hardest to work overtime and impress the folk there. given that i start on may 15th, i dont think that they will appreciate me taking a day off just 2 weeks after i start making canjam attendance an impossibility.

not really. i figured if i kept the reasons out of this post unlike what i did with the plantation meet thread, i would get a lot less grief. i got an internship with ncci in the summer. that combined with school pretty much makes it impossible to leave FOR ME. other people in my shoes probably could pull it off but i dont think ill be able to.well all that and the cost of the whole trip is prohibitively high for me. i was initially going to use miles from my dads account but a roundtrip to cali is the same number of miles as a roundtrip to india and i think my dad would rather keep the miles for that even though any and all trips to india blow ass.

doesnt look like ill be able to make it now (not that it matters much). hope everyone has fun.
  10. i am not sure if i am qualified to answer the port/opening question but this is the cabinet drawing. http://homepage.mac.com/tlinespeakers/FAL/box-plans/small-FE127e-BR.pdf
  11. just a few teaser pics of these speakers mark reid built for my lady friend. the rest of the story will be given when i have more time. forgive the poor pictures. they really dont do justice to marks work. needless to say they sound out of this world. more eargasm accounts to be given.

  14. and a very happy bday to you as well
  15. aw shit yeah...happy birthday sir. hope you have a good one.
  16. they look pretty damn nice!
  17. would have been true if i were getting less efficient speakers but at 96db sensitivity i only need a few watts mike. a legendary speaker is in the making. for something that cheap im sure it does what is required. why not get that gainclone john woven has. he hinted that he wanted to get rid of it. would be cheaper in the long run and im sure it would do the job. ps. why not use the t amp you got in your office?
  18. just found madisound.com to be like 2 dollars cheaper. any other places i should be looking?
  19. i can get a pair for $200 shipped. just wondering if anyone knew of any places that sold them for cheaper. thanks.
  20. you guys are silly geese
  21. you heard that too? jp said the same thing...go figure
  22. mark reid should change his name to mr awesome builder. i would put him up there with nate and stephen and the like without a seconds thought. gear sounded amazing and also looked the part. fairly certain that there wasnt a single person at the meet who didnt enjoy the headphone amp he had built. also in attendance was a very cool spaceship looking speaker amp. never knew that speaker amp circuits could be that simple. the thing was just beautiful. last appeared a cable for the hd650s which was a rather odd bright blue color which was a little off putting initially but when i plugged it into my 650s good god was it amazing. the bass was the best part for me. very plentiful but didnt smother anything else. also a littler brighter cable than the mogami cable mike had lent me. did everything perfect. vickis r10s were amazing to listen to...again. but the real show stopper for me were the he90s. i used to think nothing could come close to the r10s but the he90s are in a different league altogether. sure it is the first time ive heard them so that probably factored in but it simply was an amazing experience. r10s were nice but he90s were mind blowingly good. mikes new tt was a sight to behold. very industrial looking tt which was battery powered...certainly adds to the coolness factor when you see it for the first time. it sounded quite amazing. dont know if it was actually the p1 doing the work or if it was the tt but i couldnt hear any of the surface noise associated with vinyl. perhaps really good lps. either way top notch gear rig. woo 6se was a nice friendly reminder. i certainly like it more than the extreme now that i had a chance to hear them side by side. it had a nice little bright sheen that mikes rig didnt have...perhaps that was the difference between analog and digital. not to say mikes rig didnt resolve as well - it was just a lot warmer and smoother. woo 6 was brighter and therefore a little more crisp to my ears. long term i would probably pick the p1 if i had the money. highs were nice for a while with the woo 6 but im sure i would have out grown them if i had to live with them. alo prices aside, surprisingly good quality out of that little ipod dock raffy had. overall a great meet as was expected. im sure the gang is out right now getting wasted and spreading the goodwill of headphone fanatics. great to see old friends and to make new ones. glad i didnt leave after the first hour
