  1. Got what I thought was a pretty good rib eye from Publix. Preheated a seasoned cast iron pan to 500C (highest my oven goes to). Put the steak in, 3 minutes on each side. Came out medium rare. It didn't get a sear though for some reason (maybe it was the bone that prevented proper contact but there was enough meat touching the pan that didn't get seared). It also came out to be the chewiest steak I've ever made. So chewy that I gave up on it after like 20 seconds and spat out the bolus. Any thoughts on what might have made the steak so chewy? Usually I stick to boneless steaks but figured I'd give the bone in a try (it was cheaper too).
  2. Scrotal Recall on Netflix. Pretty funny. I like it.
  3. That's a glorious beard Al. Are you planning on joining wayne in Santa duties on the left coast?
  4. How do you hook the ladies? "Like this."
  5. About to pull the trigger on the nikon 20mm or the sigma 24mm art. Any thoughts/suggestions between the two? Cost is about the same. The sigma is most likely sharper wide open. Either buy one of the above or rent the zeiss 21mm...?
  6. Recently got a Fitbit Flex from Julie and it has been alarming as to how sedentary my lifestyle had become. Was barely doing 1500 steps most of which came from walking to and from the library. Anyhow, if anyone else has a fitness tracker and wants to do challenges feel free to add me on the fitbit website - [email protected]. Also, just found a great website, www.matchup.io which syncs data from various trackers from different companies so people with different trackers can still do challenges together. The website also has challenges that you can do with other people on the internet - I just signed up for this one - https://matchup.io/group/4746/yellowstone-park-to-tenton-rail-trail You can find me on matchup with the username - anuragkatyal Cheers
  7. My advisor has the 18-35. Every bit as amazing as the sigma 35/50 I've had in the past. Amazing IQ.
  8. I am a big proponent of buying used photography gear. The price of entry is considerably lower. For about the cost of renting (sometimes less, sometimes a little more), you can get rid of the gear if you don't find it agreeing with you and try something else.
  9. Oodles of this. Better would be to make another one with Bale directed by Nolan. There certainly was room left for another one at the end of the trilogy.
  10. They don't. I just mentioned being below 250gb to say I didn't even get to what they were capping back in the day. My parents pay $55/month for an 8 mbit line (Advanced Cable Company - they buy bandwidth from Comcast) about 40 minutes north of where I live. My gf pays $19.99 for a 50 mbit line (with Comcast) about 70 minutes north of where I live. The zip code you live in allows for companies to jack up the prices because they end up just having to compete with one other company. However, recently things have been getting worse. Last year, one of the companies that services my parents' home purchased the rights to the entire community they live in so they can set the price at whatever they want (I thought this was illegal...). They jacked up the price from $45/month to $55/month. I just got off the phone with ATT to see if they would match the price I was getting with Comcast earlier and I was told that they don't service the apartment community anymore. So it's just comcast now. For the past 3-4 years they have offered the $20/month for 25 mbit but now they only offer the 3 mbit line for $20/month and out of nowhere, the only other option I have is to get satellite? Doesn't seem like a coincidence to me. There doesn't seem to be any standard to their pricing across the county even.
  11. I fucking love comcast. My roommate was the only one who watched tv so he had the tv package with the internet. Now that he is leaving and I am getting a new roommate (who just wants internet like me) I called comcast to try to cancel the current package and just go back to the 25 mbit for $20/month. Was just informed that I could pay that amount for a 3 mbit line and that I would be very happy with the connection because it is uncapped...can't even threaten them with the usual I'll go with someone else because they have the monopoly for my community. We don't get services by anyone else. And even if I did get att they aren't much better with charging $55 for 20 mbit. This whole shit blows. Fuck comcast.
  12. I don't know much about that body except that it does fantastic low light video. And BH is offering a $200 instant discount along with 4% rewards (always comes in handy for the extra battery. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1081854-REG/samsung_ev_nx1zzzbzbus_nx1_digital_camera.html Looks like a fun body.
  13. Not a lens I would ever think to pick for portraiture but great images, Ari.
  14. Care to share the recipe, Nate? I think the girls might enjoy it.
  15. Thats what the anatomy professor called it...
  16. Thanks all. Shelley, the shot was arranged by height. They just happened to bet he shortest in the group. I had the remote trigger in the other hand. Not sure why I felt the need to tilt my entire body to hide it.
  17. Second from the left as you view the image from left to right, not radiographical left next to the lovely Olivia in the white coat.
  18. I'm second from the left.
  19. The lady from the LLS came over with a big fake check so we could take a picture with it
  20. Still making incorrect assumptions, Dan. Even though I was no where close to the old 250gb limit (used up 132gb in the last 30 days), constantly streaming lectures which aren't even in HD seemed to set them off. I don't see any other reason as the hackintosh sees no torrent data. None of the other computers do either since there isn't any. Wish I had time to watch stuff that would need to be torrented =/ The seedbox was an unnecessary expense and was gotten rid of a long time ago.
  21. Yup it was comcast. Got another wireless card. Got normal speeds. Put back the old card and went back down to 1 mbit. Texted a video of the two speeds to the local comcast technician yesterday at 3pm. Just got home and magically speeds are back to normal with the old wireless card. Fuckers were throttling the mac address.
  22. Happy birthday Doug
  23. Apartment community's new rules prohibit having a grill on the balcony Gave mine away yesterday to another med student. I haz a sad.
  24. The download speeds were normal. FTP speeds only were getting throttled so reseting router didn't do anything. I called enough times to where the local head engineer gave me his cell phone number and told me to contact him directly. They said they did a whole lot of line tracing and some magical mumbo jumbo and randomly later that evening ftp speeds were the same as the speeds I was getting through my browser. A few months later the same thing happened. Went through the same nonsense. Got the same resolution. 12 hard drives are for 2 sets of redundant back ups. So really am just using 4 drives. The great hard drive crash of 2014 taught me to respect data back ups. It's a Hackintosh running Yosemite, Antonio.
