He asked me too, I said I did not have a room to share and felt no guilt doing so. I found it rather odd request, given that I've only met him a few times and like John I'm a really light sleeper and value what sleep I'm going to get.
  2. Thanks Gene, I'll post the final shots in the DIY forum shortly. Nope, this is my one and only exstata build. I sold the other set of boards and parts that I have so that I can finally start on the 307A project. And Al certainly doesn't need me to build stuff for him.
  3. As the tall man mentioned, I ventured south today to drop off a package. Somehow I left with another package, but I've learned not to question these things. Also shared a fine pint (or two) with my generous host before trudging back north, we figured it was good training for my liver for the coming week's activities. We also managed to spruce up the aforementioned KGSS so it will no longer have to suffer the indignity that was its previously dented top panel. Funny that I'd be working on one of Shelly's amps today, and not even the one that she sent to me to be worked on. Again, I've learned it is best not to question the twisted ways in which head-case works.
  4. Crikey Greg, I get freaked out when I see the little 2' garter snakes in our yard and they don't even bite.
  5. My retro-fi collection may have grown yesterday.

  7. Consider this your last warning, another post like this and you'll be relieved of the privilege.
  8. One more LOL and he won't know what hit him.
  9. Ethan, I hope you truly are felling better. Nate
  10. Fingers crossed Al. I mostly got yelled at today by impatient clients that are having scheduling troubles as a result of their own negligence. But seeing as I am at the bottom of the hill that shit flows down, this became my problem.
  11. I need to catch up on Chuck, I'm way behind.
  12. Sure, I'll share. Processor: I went low, i5 520, I may upgrade this at some point but no higher than the Graphics: dual 4870s Ram: 4GB HD: single 500 spinny thing for now, I desire a SSD for the primary but it's out of the budget for now. Display: 1900 x 1200 RGBLED, it's friggen gorgeous Most importantly I bought it lightly used (2 months) from some gamer freak who wanted to get one with the newly released 5870s and took a 30% hit by doing so. It's also covered by Dell's warranty for the next 3 years which is very important to me for anything that will run this hot/hard while gaming. So far it's blindingly fast even running in balanced power mode. I'll open it up to full power later on tonight once I get World At War (COD4) installed. And Al, no, it's not a MAC. I have recently become pretty frustrated with the Apple's "we know everything you want to do and will tell you how to do it" model. There is no disputing the superior user experience that a Mac offers for casual computing but I need something that'll run full 3D CAD and the occasional game. With the same budget I couldn't even max out a 15" macbook pro, not to mention wanting a 17" screen for drafting.
  13. A wee little laptop.
  14. My soldering rig is pretty retro, especially when in Allison mode.

I sent an email to a friend today who should be bringing his TTVJ 307A (trevorlane) so hopefully he'll sign up for a spot in Summit Fi.
  16. Why? Were you going to work on your railgun?

Some days there simply are not enough WTF's to go around. Aside - at least she's yelling and rummaging about and perhaps burning a few excess calories.
  18. Sweet! me goes off to download Eraser...
  19. It's not very memorable, at least not from what I remember.

    Some other time perhaps.
  21. This puzzles me. The alligator was already one of the all time epic fail special effects, I can't imagine the BR transfer makes it any better.
  22. That's odd Ryan, I never had dropout issues with that router and it wasn't uncommon to have 3 or 4 wireless devices all accessing it at the same (two laptops, a netbook music server and my SB3). I wonder if this is the iPad specific wireless issue that cropped up and if you need to set the router to run on a specific band (G only?)? But I'm way out of my depth here...
  23. Shhhh, don't tell him that!
  24. More like "dongle" but I'd imagine that if a company is motivated it's now pretty clear that you can tap audio via USB out of the iPad dock connector which opens up a whole host of options. I wonder what the camera connection cable really consists of and if Apple is willing to tell people? It'd be sucky if it was once again some proprietary BS like what companies had to do to get digital out of the iPod but wouldn't really be surprising.
