His hope/plan was to be able to use the wifi model and tether it to his phone for mobile/3G access. I have to say, it's a great plan and it's damn impressive if he already got it to work.

Allegedly much finer adjustment (1.2dB vs. 2dB) but that won't mean much if its max attenuation is really only -40dB. Most folks have issues with the first 20dB of adjustment on typical steppers which is accomplished in the first 5 steps.

If the specs are right I think it'd probably suck - 1.2db/step x 33steps = max attenuation of 40dB. It might be worth buying just the switch though and populating it yourself which Craig could easily do.

Food for thought - I wonder if all the people buying the 16GB WIFI models on Ebay for $600+ are international folks? I also love that there are folks on Craigslist already trying to get $900 for the 32GB version.

They got the right earpiece spot on on mine, but the left has yet to fit right and causes pain. So I got a second set of impressions done and I hope that they get it right this time.

This is certainly an interesting development but I'm waiting for a major institution to adopt the iPad as the default textbook or something along those lines. I'm beginning to think the biggest impediment to the iPad's success may be Apple's ability to make them fast enough...

They probably allowed it because Netflix's options for streaming content are pretty awful. I looked on my PS3 tonight, I struggled to find anything worth watching and the lack of high-def content is a great big pile of fail. I can only hope that the iPad app will kick them in the ass to actually offer some current, desirable content.

I wish we could fast forward about a month from Saturday to hear what people are saying and how useful they're finding iPads. There's little doubt in my mind that initially it'll be almost a resounding success but I want a bit of the shine to wear off and hear some real opinions. I'm counting on you Stretch/Mike/Dan/others.

I'd reread that article about why you don't want the 3G built in model, Dinny. If memory serves you hated AT&T's 3G service in NYC much like I hate it in NH.
