  1. I'm sorry, did you say "jp#'s" and "reality check" in the same sentence?

  3. Panels are at the fabricator, not much to be done on the beta till they return next week.
  4. I took the early shift, 9 to 1. Was back up at 5am for a feeding so I managed about 4hrs of half-decent sleep.

  6. Hammond has a pretty extensive line. What size do you need? Hard to suggest a chassis without knowing if you need 2" x 2" or 24" x 24".
  7. Wait, was he supposed to pay me for that stuff?
  8. If you attended the meet, did you get to keep what you picked?
  9. I think that the boutique kitchen, or at least being able to convince homeowner's that they are worth 50k is something we might never see come back. Most of the people putting in new kitchens were financing them through second mortgages which I also think are going to become few and far between. And I'll never understand the obsession with granite counter tops, I'm not a fan at all.
  10. I didn't see that it was variable at all, 12 steps is probably ok as long as you can change it on the fly and don't have to pop a cover and swap belts or some such nonsense.
  11. Rather than fight with chassis choices looking for something to provide the shielding I'd just order a potted and shielded transformer. Other solutions have a way of appearing kludgey without a lot of careful planning.
  12. As far as I know they don't exist.
  13. Google is your friend.
  14. My only thoughts are that it would be nice to have a worklight on the table. My Delta has one and it's immensely helpful. Oh wait, I just caught that it isn't variable speed. That would be a deal breaker for me. I've got a Delta DP-350.
  15. I thought that was pretty classic.
  16. True, just be prepared for the additional hassle.
  17. I suppose you could in essence make a TREAD an unregulated supply by manipulating the resistor values so that the desired output range could never be achieved. Then you'd only be dealing with the drop over the reg in terms of heat dissipation. Not exactly elegant, but cheap and might work although I haven't plugged this scenario into Tangent's estimator to see what it looks like.
  18. Careful working with steel, it doesn't drill nearly as nicely as that aluminium stuff.
  19. I tried a different email address and the email came through this time.
  20. Tried to register, it's been an hour and still no email from them. I'm guessing they've fully overloaded and crashed now.
  21. Time is short, best I could do. edit, just found this one too.

    Custom IEM's

Lily has a cold so I doubt I'm going to have much time to myself at night this week to really dig into their sound. I had about 2 minutes tonight (off to bed shortly) to test them with the PtoS adapter and they still hissed out of the Touch. Significantly less and perhaps just the noise floor of the Touch. I'll have to compare back to back with the 4Ps at some point to see if I hear anything with them under similar conditions. And I'm going to try and get a loaner portable amp to try with them to see if that would help with the hiss issues.

It would be material dependent. For quiet stuff, like acoustic or classical it would probably be intrusive. I'd be happy with the same deal your customer in Korea got. In all seriousness I'd guess that these would hiss even out of a pico on low gain. And in full fairness to Livewires we discussed the potential hiss issue prior to the purchase. They say they don't have a problem when their product is used with "professional" audio gear and they also offer cables with built in resistors to help with the issue for other users. I'm hopeful that they Ety cable will cure it for critical listening, otherwise when I use these there will generally be 100db or so "ambient" noise so it definitely won't be an issue then.
