Inbound traffic (to the US) rarely seems to have problems, going the other way is another story all together. As others have said, you shouldn't get hit with anything and I'd also recommend using the USPS even though it'll probably appear to cost more than UPS/FedEx.
Thanks guys, time to do a bit of research based on those links. And I've already got a Bugle, hopefully I'll be posting pictures today as I finally figured out how I want to mount it.
So I've been listening off and on to my Thorens TD160 and so far I've got to say that I'm pretty unimpressed. Now, I know full well that I've probably got a crap cart on there and that it's not setup right but before investing in at least a Mid-Fi cart (you can expect a thread on that one too) I figured it'd be a good idea to at least get what I've got setup right. I'm not averse to spending a little money on this project but if someone tells me that I need hundreds of dollars of kit to setup my $200 vinyl rig that'll be the end of it.
So what's the sane way of going about this?

I haven't, but I have stuff setup right now to do a couple of transport, source comparisons so I'll get on that. I'd wager that what you read was something about the SB3 being a pretty average stand-alone source, I don't really ever remember talking about it as a transport.
The only issue that I've had is that people don't leave feedback. I've purchased two things and sold another and none of the 3 has left feedback when it was done. To the best of my knowledge all of the transactions went off without issue so I must have bad luck with that.
Ti Kan (aka amb) would probably disagree with you there...

Peter,
I assume that you're not looking to have any high-res DVD capability, right?
I started my search for a new DVD player recently and I'm pretty torn between the Oppo 981HD which should make regular DVD's look great on my HD TV or Toshiba's HD-A3 which might not look as good with standard DVD's but carries the bonus of HD DVD playback. Given that I rent most of the DVD's that I watch it doesn't make any sense to go Blu-Ray and all of those players are more expensive to boot.
