You make a good point Nate. I will push for a loaner on the 1st so I can just drop the car off and pick it back up later. We head out of town in a few days and will not be available until then. The 1st will work well because work is closed. I'm mega-screwed once work starts back up on the 2nd.

Today I figured out why the backup sensors on the new Honda Odyssey keep going off as I back out of the driveway: They installed two of them on the wrong sides so that what's supposed to point parallel to the ground points down towards the ground and is sensing the ground. Fun times. They'll have already admitted that they have to fix it, now it's a matter of schedule. I am thinking I will be spending New Years Day at the dealer.

Looking forward to hearing your input on these. I have been daydreaming about HT setups.

^ I left him a phone message and will send you the info once he confirms but all signs point to yes he is still active. I don't know if he drives out to Reston though, you'd have to deal with him on that. He saved me a fortune (like 60%-70%) on the work he did for me and it was all above board with permits etc.

I had an electrician do a bunch of work for me a while back and he was great. I can see if he is still doing work as a one man show.

Sorry man, I was in the middle of some work crap and rushed that post. I appreciated the heads up and went and rechecked my research. Sorry for sounding like a dick. I have this issue at work all the time and I am working on it.

2015 Odyssey was rated good (the highest rating) in all categories: http://www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/vehicle/v/honda/odyssey It's about as safe as it gets other than the crash prevention sensing stuff which would be nice but I don't NEED to have.

Turns out that my original surprise at trade in valuation on the Subaru was well founded and that Kelley Blue Book has its head up its ass on that one. I can find almost identical cars locally selling at dealers for $4k under what they said it was worth. The Black Book price (one of the local dealers allows access, which is odd) is almost half what KBB says. Still going to get rid of it though. Going to CarMax when it opens to find out a true value to use with the dealer on the trade in. Should be working but instead thinking about minivans.

Nate thanks for the head's up for sure. I checked and that seems to be mostly the 2.3L engine. I have the 2.5L engine in the Mazda 5.

Yeah but not that much. It was about $11k by my math.

After taking the my beloved Subaru Legacy Wagon in for the 3rd repair in 6 months I came to the realization that it makes a whole lot more sense to make that the trade in for the purchase of the Odyssey. Two minivan family here we come (the Mazda is 5 mini-minivan). What amazes me is that the 06 Subaru with 70k miles is worth almost as much as the 13 Mazda 5 with 6 k miles according to KBB.

Yeah we are basically locked in on the Odyssey because of the 3 kid second row (with latch system). Shopping around on price now. They really screw you on fees that is for sure.
