Wish I was down there but definitely would have been too much traveling in a single week for me.

HC Bike/Cycling Thread
Forgot to reply to this when I was on holiday: I have the following nice road bikes: Calfee Dragonfly Custom (really a semi-custom as only head tube is different from stock), SRAM Red 2012 (20 speed), MadFiber wheels, Quarq power meter Giant TCR Advance SL0 (2010), SRAM Red 2010, Zipp 404 wheels I also have the beater Trek 1200 which is now being left in Barbados, a Neuvation FC100 for use on the computrainer, a Cannondale Slice TT/Tri bike and a Giant AnthemX 29er mountain bike. I also have a cyclocross bike on order (and paid for) but it doesn't appear that it's going to show up anytime soon

Their salaries are also a factor: http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2010/pf/jobs/1010/gallery.best_jobs_highest_paid.moneymag/index.htmln Edit: I was bored and I wondered if how much their insurance premiums were and while crazy (up to $55k) are not going to hold a candle to the salary: http://depts.washington.edu/asaccp/sites/default/files/pdf/Click%20here%20for%20_87.pdf

Microsoft Surface Pro WTF
To be even odder I just called Microsoft to get my replacement and pulled out my Surface and the trackpad appears to have healed itself during my flight back from Barbados (I'm guessing on one of the flights). On hold with them to see if they will now replace it but I am doubtful. At least if if happens again I'll have a shortcut to replacement I guess. Edit: as expected no replacement for now.

Success Edit: The roads up in the hinterland were rough as hell and there were a few navigational issues too but a great time was had by both of us.

HC Bike/Cycling Thread
After driving people around on the east coast of the island all day and being reminded how hellaciously steep some of the hills were out there and how poor some of the roads were I decided that the planned long ride needed to be less epic and dropped it down to 2500 ft of climbing in 38 miles: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3725142 Still should be an awesome ride tomorrow morning. Wish us luck as it's my father in law's longest ride to date but I doubt that will be an issue (he's super fit) and I still have a tennis ball sized welt on my hip.

Yeah the bike and I are a little banged up but fine. I keep finding road construction on every ride. I had wet construction dust on my tires and a light rain on the rough road and I just slid out like it was ice. Sunday is scheduled for the 40+ miles 3k+ft route. We will see it is hot as hell here.

Ride #3 in the books. I wiped out on freshly wet road and have road rash on my shoulder and hip. Was a beautiful day though. At least I ruined a jersey I hate. Pic from about 3 miles after fall.

Microsoft Surface Pro WTF
In the WTF category my Type Cover 2 touchpad has de-laminated from and a huge bubble has formed in it and is now entirely useless. Microsoft better replace this free of charge. It'll have to wait until I get back but at least I have touch screen and pen input to get through for now.

Nice Juan. I am hoping to get in over 100 miles in during this trip to Barbados. I think those strava points will stand for a while

And now what did you do TODAY?
Thanks Nate. I am lucky because most of the people who are responsible for the work load issues for me are going to just have to wait until I can get to them and we can get as much overtime as we want. I am less lucky in that they somehow forget that I have to review all their work until a day before some deadline.

And now what did you do TODAY?
Finished up 5.5 days of single parenting late Friday. Another 4.5 started about an hour ago. Hard but rewarding. Totally buried at work but it just has to wait.

The Official Head-Case Photography Thread.
Turns out that the US Road Racing National Championship is going to be run tomorrow morning and goes past my house. I dug out the D200 and 70-200. Should be interesting.

Work has sucked a big egg recently so I took a little break and planned my first route for my Barbados trip passing from sea level to the highest point on the island: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3667719

In preparing for my riding in Barbados in a few weeks I wanted a map to load to my Edge 800. A quick internet search turned up: http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/ Considering I can't even buy a official Garmin MAP for Barbados, this is very very sweet. They have coverage basically worldwide too. The internet is AWESOME sometimes. Edit: Having done some map stuff before I didn't need this but seeing as Nebby pointed it out here is the DC Rainmaker how-to: http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2013/05/download-garmin-705800810.html
