  1. Ah, never used them, just went that way because of prices, especially shipping. Most places wanted the same for shipping as for the two XLR jacks.
  2. A pair of Neutrik NC3MD-LX-B. Gotta love Redco.
  3. Not really a phono stage though, is it? Pete, looks fairly interesting, JFET input cascoded by a triode. I expect it would sound pretty good. Schematic here.
  4. 1. For reasons of DC offset. 2. Its the output device, runs in SE class A. 3. Yes, though not many JFETs would work well.
  5. Like sustained Stax crinklefart?
  6. What he was saying yesterday is that Sennheiser forgot to put the spacers between the diaphragm and stators, so while there was a gap present, and it would often work, the diaphragm had a tendency to stick to the stator, which, obviously, isnt good.
  7. Yeah, I have some high hopes for them, though I am also planning to mod them a bit. 1.25" MDF baffle, 0.75" MDF elsewhere, all film caps in the xover, and very nice measurements except for the lower bass registers. I will certainly report back about the sound and stuff, with familiar music and gear (I find that helps). Some measurements:
  8. Finished modding a Denon 2900, then arky-sparky'd said Denon (new output stage v- accidentally tied to case ground), just finished giving it a smoke recharge and all seems to be good in the world.
  9. I can help with that, just send it here.
  10. Ooh, jealous.
  11. Happy birthday Dan!
  12. Biggie, that isnt a 41hz amp6, that is a prebuilt TA2020 amplifier that some guy on DIYaudio sells for 20 euros: diyAudio Forums - New ta2020 pcb'S - Page 1
  13. Antec Solo and 100 Astra Superior platinum razor blades.
  14. Tristania - Beyond the Veil
  15. Interesting, I wonder what the difference is, as the voltage seems pretty close. Safety resistor value maybe?
  16. So am I, especially since it looks like it should be able to run off a normal bias Stax amp.
  17. Good to hear. I didnt experiment too much with my YH-100, but I didnt really care for the sound too much from either mine or NoNoNoNoNoNo's pair. Probably a transplant into a better frame would have made a big difference, but thats a lot of work. I am hopeful that these ET1000 sound pretty good. Definitely look the part. Also looks like they can run off normal bias Stax amps, which would be cool.
  18. Asking price. YH-100 funded it. Sure, I will let you know if I decide it isnt for me.
  19. I am thinking I dont like this idea. How about you and Nate? I will probably pick one up when I get around to building myself a KGSS or something, so if you can wait a year or so, I will let you know how they are.
  20. Does anyone know anything about these speakers? Since they are made by Final Sound, I presume they are inverted ESL, though this model has a 7" alloy woofer handling the low end with the 48" ESL panel for mids and up. There obviously are going to be some issues with reflections, and I bet they are very sensitive to the room, but still, pretty interesting looking. Seen a few good reviews, but from unknown sources.
