  1. I know, I tried to mean it were "cold enough" to be in a safe working range I wonder if someone here has tried already the Dynafet using S22 PS and if it really needed case heat sinking or whether it run smooth with onboard heat sinks. If the big on board heat sinks we're planning to use aren't enough we'll be in trouble.
  2. Thanks, I thought so, but since previously it was stated as a very bad idea, I just wanted to know why Now we just need to try how demanding are 2 Dynafet boards for one S22 and see if the big heat sinks that will come in the kit are enough to keep it cold.
  3. LOL Well, the album with that track is 1h 14' long, which is too long for one LP, so I wonder if they just skipped that "song" or made it shorter to fit into a vinyl LP capacity.
  4. Yep, hence my recommendation. Action alone doesn't necessarily mean you need a lot of force to press the strings, and force is relative to own strength. Getting something you feel comfortable playing is an important factor to keep practicing and getting some quick encouraging results.
  5. So then, what's the problem in extending the sinking area to the case, by letting the heat sinks to touch the box?
  6. How the hell did they fit #15 track into the vinyl?. I'm still wondering about the meaning of those 30+ minutes of "summer night" noises to close the disc
  7. If you want a guitar to learn, then it's way better you go to a guitar shop and try several models. You want your first guitar to feel comfortable in your hands, that the strings don't need heroic strength to sound clean nor to bend a tone, that frets are distanced in a way it's easy for you running your fingers across the fretboard, and that it's not too wide to make difficult complex chords, nor too thin that your finger touches air strings. If you get a guitar which is easy to play and sounds nice, you'll spend way more time practicing than if it's a wonderful guitar which is hard to play and bring any sounds from it. That said, I'd try one of the entry level Yamahas, they sound quite nice, looks are OK and usually are easy to play. Another great option, if you could get one used is the Martin 000M which IMO has those qualities I described.
  8. U2 - No line on the horizon For starters badly compressed dynamically. About the music.... don't know yet. At track 4 so far.
  9. Very Happy Birthday Nate, I wish you all the best
  10. Very nice work, congratulations. If this sounds half as good as it looks...
  11. Short might happen? Vibration? In my ignorance of technical matters and considering case heat sinking was an option, I thought it could be a good thing Would you please would be so kind to explain why to me
  12. Not sure, but that could be an advantage. You can use some thermal conductive material to make the heat sinks contact the top cover, so it would become part of the heat sinking.
  13. The Spanish gang has some suggestions which maybe you'd be interested in discussing: - Making separate enclosures for the PS and the signal parts. This has the advantage, being S22 power supplies, that the PS alone could be used in the future to feed a B22, even a 6 boards unit. It also could save costs for the PS trannies. Noise, RFI shielding, and vibration damping is a bit less of a matter, and would allow using quite safely less expensive trafos like the Talemas which Picaudio and Hitori suggested. - We've thought that it'd be a very interesting feature that the unit had two separate 2ch volume controls, so when using the unit in balanced mode each pot would control a single stereo channel, but when using the amp in SE mode, provided we put two TRS outputs for phones, then each pot could control separately each SE output. Hence it'd be like having 3 separate amps, one balanced with separate volume controls for each channel (like my Gilmore balanced Ref), and two SE with independent volume controls for each amp. This can be easily implemented if using stepped attenuators (for channel balance when used in balanced mode), but we don't know how it could be implemented if using the SMD attenuators and the digital controller J4cbo is developing. Would it be feasible using the board?
  14. OK then, Carlos is in for 4 Dynafet boards with transistors, heat sinks, etc. and 2 Sigma 22 kits with Muse caps, big heat sinks and I guess blue leds too. Otherwise he'd better show up and change the color hahaha
  15. Don't know about US fees, but here placing a transfer to USA in dollars and with no additional expenses for the receiver isn't much more of 2% with a minimum fee of 6 euros or so. Is Carlos in for 2 or for 4 main boards? He wanted 4 but I don't know if all them were available.
  16. Cool. If a mod reads this, please give Carlosgp Casino access so he can follow the thread and know about payments and everything. I think for us it'd be better making a single payment by bank transfer, of course all due expenses on our side. This would take less banking fees than ordering four separate transfers and much less than Paypal fees. Sending a check from Spain would be very impractical indeed. However we'll do whatever suits Luvdunhill best. So it's $60/board including Paypal fees but shipping should be added, OK? If we pay by bank transfer I suppose we can subtract 4% since no fees should be charged on his side.
  17. That would be great. If Luvdunhill can transfer the cancelled order to Carlos, then he'd be in for 2 additional S22 kits, I suppose with the upgraded Muse caps and big heat sinks too. If he's in, then having carlosgp with Casino access would be good too. You'll receive the PM with Rodrigo's address as soon as I finish this.
  18. Would it be possible to add another member to the group build this late? A friend of the Spanish team, also a Headcase member (carlosgp) but as Hitori and Picaudio not very participative, knows about the build and is very interested. He would be in for 4 Dynafet boards with needed transistors and heat sinks, and 2 S22 power supply kits. I don't know if he would build it himself or would get Picaudio to build his too. I think the big heatsinks, Muse caps, and blue leds are OK for me too. Regarding the address, the kits and boards should go to 15007 A Coru
  19. Spanish team is in for 2 S22 kits each, so 6 kits in total. They can be sent to Picaudio since he's building my unit, and he'd send the 2 remaining kits to Hitori. Not sure about the heat sinks, I think having to design the box to provide dissipation for two PS boards can add some complication. Aren't there any on board sinks which could work? OTOH my B22 is using a single S22 to feed 3 signal boards, uses on board heat sinks and not a single problem so far, not myself nor any previous owner that I know. In fact I don't think it even gets worryingly hot. Would driving 2 Dynafet boards be that much more stressing for the S22 than driving 3 B22 boards?
  20. Very nice, did you DIY or got it from anywhere? I think I might try one of those on some records.
  21. Omnivorous. Widening horizons as far as I read about performers I didn't know, or hear something appealing. If into anything reminiscing of a phase, perhaps I'm into a female singers one which includes even opera, but this is lasting several years, so probably more than a phase it's a personal bias.
  22. IMO it'd be great having lower gain or a selectable one. For most cans, considering a 2-3V output source, 11x is too high, even 8x is very much considering my experience with the Beta22. Any idea what would be the lowest gain the circuit can take without becoming unstable?
  23. I can't speak for Hitori nor Rodrigo, but I think that getting the S22 boards and parts at $67 is a good deal, and if the kits come assembled it will save Rodrigo some additional work. For me it's fine. If they agree they'll say soon. IMHO it'd be good the kits came with the onboard heat sinks, the ones required to dissipate the power two Dynafet boards ask from one S22. I suppose that'd be the same for everyone. In the same way I guess we all be using 30V output trannies. Icarium, thanks for updating the spread sheet with the transistors needed.
  24. Let's see if using the code trick it displays as typed: RbL At= -------------------------- ( RbL
