  1. Do you call those scone roses?
  2. My older Porter Cable model 690 is 1.75hp I think, and it came with fixed and plunge bases. There is a current model that is similar https://www.portercable.com/product/693lrpk/1-34-hp-multi-base-router-kit
  3. Not much of a birthday present, except for the retirement part! Heal well and quickly and best of luck transitioning to a man of leisure!
  4. I used graph paper and made scale cut outs of the tools and cabinets to see how they would fit. I'm not sure what you mean by wanting ideas for cabinets so you might need to give more information like what kind of work you're going to do in the shop and what you need to store, etc. Upper cabinets for my shop were from a kitchen I helped remodel and then we built the base cabinets.
  5. @jp11801 started talking about this meet in a different thread about a different meet, but if we're going to make something happen then we need a proper meet thread. This could be an opportunity to get the old Travel Team together again! @shellylh claims to be making the trip and Claire and I are considering going too. Some locals like @bozebuttons and @Kerry -- MOT MOT MOT! -- will be there. Not sure if @Iron_Dreamer or @justin are working the show, and even if he's not promoting ECP Audio, @dsavitsk is not far away. So, who else feels like it is safe to come out and play again?
  6. What is the purpose of that light box?
  7. It's gotta be over 100 lbs! Looks good, and I wasn't sure if you were leaving the groove but it gives the sides some texture and interest. 👍🏻
  8. Wednesday is dancing to Goo Goo Muck all day to celebrate your big day! Have a great one! Cheers!
  9. Does that make me a man and a girl?
  10. My experience is that no finishes really last on this stuff, but I saw Penofin Transparent Ipe at the hardware store this morning so I got a can. I reconfigured this table a bit, made stronger legs from the old ones, and bolted them on instead of using screws and glue. We'll see how it holds up all around.
  11. I've been trying to rehabilitate and revise the heaviest deck table in the world and in the process decided that the only thing I'm going to do with the leftover Ipe decking is make decking. Unreliable is a good summary. Annoyingly dense and brittle at the same time. Death to most screws. Resistant to finishes.
  12. HBO and HBO Max are streaming Howard Stern's interview that includes a lot of Bruce playing songs solo with a guitar or at the piano. It sounds great and is touching and interesting.
  13. Happy birthday Jeff! I hope you weren't planning on having a bunch of aged barleywine ales for your Bday celebration because your cellar should be rid of those now. 😆 Have a great one whatever you're drinking. Cheers!
  14. Party on JP! Hope you have a good one. Cheers!
  15. I loved Hogan's Heroes so much that I started digging a secret "tunnel" in the field behind our house. I never got further than a hole a few feet deep with a piece of plywood covered in dirt clods and weeds as camouflage, but I still outfitted it with some stuff and played out there... RIP LeBeau 😢
  16. Do you have ant-sized gear? What about that preamp you need? Hit us up.
  17. Finished the mini bedroom audio rack with Rubio Monocoat and glued it up. Now in place and making me happy. Also shown are the Bendy Head headphone stand from Peter @Iron_Dreamer and coasters from Nate. Thanks again guys, and thanks to Steve for the design, lumber, and help building!
  18. The cocktail table looks beautiful, Jeff!
  19. I waited a year for this stuff to dry -- apparently almost to the day -- and then jointed and planed it. Looks kinda similar. But now it's flat and smooth.
  20. I did a 20 mile ride today and somewhere along the way I wondered whether @MexicanDragon has logged 20 miles total on his new Vado that got him so excited. Waiting for a reply...
