  1. Salted caramel and malted vanilla w/ peanut brittle pieces ice cream at Bi-Rite Creamery. Yum.
  2. Is Stretch in transit? I hope he gets back to regular posting status soon because I miss him. So, the motivation for this purchase investment came at CanJam when my wife emailed me the following: "I can't make the stereo play music (as usual) so call me and tell me what I have to do to make that happen." I figured that was a sign that I needed a more user-friendly but still world class pre-amp to streamline the system. With a remote. After having a good first quarter financially, I decided to go for it. The C-5xe is going to be nice and easy also with the same remote and such. Super excited but have to wait a couple to three weeks for the KX-R. Emm Labs gets demoted to Mayberry and the Doshi will be phono pre only for now. Sounds nuts, I admit.
  3. Still a little woozy, but I bought this used: Ayre C-5xe (that I will upgrade to MP) Then this new: Ayre KX-R What have I done?
  4. Cornbread stuffing sounds good even though the chimichanga I had for lunch is putting me into a coma. Your low-maintenance virtual friends are glad to have you back, Shelly.
  5. Not trying to kill any rodents, and don't own any firearms, but I did walk out the back door of Mayberry this morning to find a large wild turkey on top of my tenant's truck cab. And I don't mean a tumbler of whiskey, either. I flew off the truck and started a walking tour of the back yard. Still there when I left and Claire took these shots a little later as it perched on our shed and meandered up the hill.
  6. Nice!

  9. Jason Moran -- Ten btw, the new Herbie Hancock suckfest is unImaginably bad.
  10. I was thinking about this Nicolas Payton concert and found these images just to bring back the horror. Payton playing one-handed trumpet while plinking notes on the Fender Rhodes: And "Pat" on the bass: Worst. Performance. Ever.
  11. Buster Williams Quartet -- Live at the Montreux Jazz Festival 1999
  12. Yup.
  13. May I suggest: or or or maybe
  14. The sexing up of Rainbow Brite is getting out of hand!
  15. Well, it was right after you posted a pic of you and your male "better half" so you were sending rather mixed messages! And because of your avatar I meant to mention that I once represented Rainbow Brite, or at least her creators, in a law suit brought by a television writer. That's a good choice for Pride week too!
  16. I was trying to find something in the "true face" thread and have to admit I chuckled at this post by Shelly given her revelation here: I also want to note that my new avatar -- the bacon rainbow -- is in honor of the 40th anniversary of the San Francisco's Pride Celebration and Parade, which takes place on Saturday.
  17. Ditto to the King of the Road!

    The Wire

Late to the party, but I just watched The Wire season one, episode one. I've seen bits and pieces over time but now I want to really check it out. Looking forward to more.
  20. I think these threads (and those linked in the second one) have some really good music from the last few years: http://www.head-case.org/forums/music/7821-best-albums-2009-a.html http://www.head-case.org/forums/music/5411-2008-year-end-report-card.html I will think of some specific recommendations for you too, but those are a good start. I also use this site for weekly releases in indie music and a lot of the ones he likes in his "music and dvd release lists" would appeal to you (archives go back to 2006). http://blog.largeheartedboy.com/
  21. I like the Apple case and its two propped position options. I like the idea of the ones with a strap for your hand when open because holding it gets to be annoying after awhile.
