If this sounds as good as it looks, I want one Anybody tried the Superlux phones (I mean the new ones)? I heard from a friend of mine that they are really good for what they cost - but they look like an ugly meeting of an AKG and an ATH.

There is one CD3k in Japan that is quite minty Plus it has all the necessary extra NOS parts so it can look 100% new (at least for a while cause the pleather likes to deteoriate too quickly) - I doubt it will sell for cheap though. Also, the CD3000s sounded too unbalanced - at least for me - too much highs and rolled of bass (with not much impact) but the soundstage and comfort was nice, it is still definitely one of the better closed headphones and might work a lot better in a matched system. I didn't hear the woodied T50RP (or in fact any orthos) but I am keen to try/own them sometime in the future.

I need to sell the Parasound to my friend to get it, if it is a downgrade compared to that then I will not do it cause it is unlikely that I'll find an 1600HD again that I would buy that is why I asked. Maybe later on if it is still available.

I've been offered a CA 840C locally for ~750 USD, now that seems a killer price in my book (especially that we have taxes here in the EU as well), now could anybody tell me what can I expect compared to the D/AC 1600HD (which I really like)? Is it better or worse? I know once it was highly regarded (at least as a CD player, not as a standalon DAC), is it still good? Thanks!!

There is also a Platinum version of the 2.7 which is even better thanks to the K-grade DAC chips, I guess upgrading it manually is possible but not for the faint-hearted.

So I guess if this is true, best is to use the E/90 to provide the whatever bias and use a different whatever amp to drive the phones with a special cable that splits the drive and bias.

The clamp will disappear over time as it is similar to other Beyers in that aspect, I have big ears but the comfort was fine for me. And yes, I would classify them as a little bit bass-light even if it was run from a C.E.C. HD53N which is on the warm side afaik but it's nothing wrong really. I will probably listen to that demo pair at a later time to see how much it changes. What I really liked is how 'right' the high notes sound.

The one I did not buy from KuboTEN is still available afaik, I suggest to ask Craig about it. And there is another one in the EU, too. So one can easily find it if he/she looks hard enough

The T1 does not sound like other Beyers (at least not the ones I tried) which is a good thing It does Not suck.

It was discussed before in the other Parasound thread but nobody has heard them I guess. The ones with inferior digital chipses (1000,1500) probably better for this upgrade as they gain 24/96 capability (if the DAC chips are replaced as well with PCM1704U-K chips) while this is not available in the 1100 or 1600. A Hungarian guy has a heavily modified 1100, I will probably try to organize a comparison between that and my stock 1600.

Sometimes you can pick up an SR-003 from Japan for dirt cheap so it seems like a good option (it will probably fit in your other package without problems, too).

There is one at Yahoo Japan which might go for a good price (and I think there will be in the future, too) but I think you can find within the USA as well.
