  1. Okay, so that means I either have to replace either the headphones or the amp. Question is, which one needs to go. Pity that here in the middle of Europe I have absolutely no chance to hear anything else than what I actually buy. I think I need a closed headphone because most of the time the environment is not noise-free (that's my main problem with the LNS).
  2. I have bought a normal bias version not so long ago. Sounds wonderful, but I also found it unforgiving, compared to the the LNS. Trouble is, my ears turn red even after a short listening, I tried adjusting it but the fit is just hopeless for me
  3. I don't think so, because I guess the normal bias SR-X doesn't have the deep bass extension of the 4070.
  4. I've read that the APS V3 recable also lessens the treble, so maybe that could also be a solution(I would rather not sell the GLite). In most of the recordings, this problem is not apparent and it sounds amazing, but in some piano music, it can really ruin the experience (especially considering that the piano tone on this headphone is really good).
  5. Today I could try the ESW10s with the Gilmore Lite, and it does not seem to be a very good match, because sometimes there is too much treble energy(otherwise it has been noticeably improved over using it unamped). I used them with my friend's Meridian 208 CD player because the Pico DAC is still at least a few weeks away. Maybe I should try a Milett Hybrid or something else, what do you think?
  6. Anyone for a Sigma?
  7. I didn't know where to put it, so I decided to put it here: has anyone heard the DCD-2560GL CD-player? How would an old player like this compare against something new like a Pico? And finally, is this write-up rubbish or not? Thanks.

    Deals

HiFi neu oder gebraucht: audio-markt.de - das Portal fr Highend-Gerte, Lautsprecher, Verstrker... A pair of rare Stax monoblock amplifiers within the EU. Are they any good?
  9. He told me that he got an adapter cable built so that's settled but that makes me hard to believe that he used it for 10 minutes or so... Still, I can't wait to hear it
  10. It would only be a temporary solution until I sell my other stuff. How about a Big Joe Power Amp?
  11. Yes I know, but at the moment I have no intention to use speakers at all and I think the GLite would be OK for a while. And also after that I will have no money left...
  12. It is near the place were my girlfriend lives, so I will be able check it out later in the week. I will need an adapter cable as well to use it with a headphone amp, where to get one?
  13. The only thing which worries me a little is the seller, because he's the moderator in that forum and it's a little bit like HF where some comments about products mysteriously disappear, and after some search I found out that he has a K1000 so I'm not sure it is that one or another that's practically new... Still, the exchange rate is so bad that it equals even less than 500.
  14. I've never heard one but I won't buy it without hearing it. And of course, I know that listening to it in a quiet enviroment is important, the ESW10 is quite the opposite of that so I could end up with a dynamic rig and sell everything else. I would have to sell either the dynamic or electrostatic setup more or later anyway, but this is the first time ever when I see a K1000 showing up locally.
  15. I'm getting sick of local deals but I found one again...K1000 new in box for about 500 EUR. Should I start selling something which I have and go for it? Would it work with a Gilmore Lite (as a temporary solution)? Thanks.
  16. I would like to bump this thread because I could finally compare a stock Aurvana Live! to my recabled one (I chose D5000 cable) and I have to say, even I notice the difference. The most important thing is the bass, which has tightened up nicely and lets it sound more balanced. And also the highs are not sibilant anymore. Because of these things it is not fatiguing to listen to. I used them straight out of the Sansa Clip using lossless files, I guess the difference would be bigger from a decent source and headphone amp. But the cables are still at the customs so maybe later on can try this with the GLite (but only if the other one won't be recabled by then;)). The ESW10JPNs are still way more exciting to listen to(no contest, really), but these are more comfortable and on par with them in terms of isolation/leakage and costs much less. And that's partly down to the volume level which doesn't need to be turned up as high as it used to be. To sum up, I think they are quite nice for the money as a 'starter' closed headphone and it is worth to recable them because it is a surprisingly easy job to do and it gives noticeable improvements to the sound.
  17. This also seems to be an interesting project once it finishes: BuffaloDAC
  18. A new custom title, I like this forum. Anyway, a new thread opened at the other forum here, somebody with 7 posts claims that the LA2000 trumps everything. I would certainly say so, but only in terms of the pricing, which is insanely high. He is waiting for a Rudi to drive it... These two really deserve each other...
  19. It doesn't really have a competition so it should sell well even at this price.
  20. It seems to me that this headphone wants to be the poor man's Qualia.
  21. Wow, flashing custom title. I want that.
  22. I'd rather buy a used HE60 for this price.
  23. Ships only to Germany Are there any sonical differences between an old and a later K1000?
  24. If anybody in the EU is interested, I found an early K1000 at a reasonable price (500 EUR) http://www.hifi-forum.de/index.php?action=browseT&back=1&sort=lpost&forum_id=173&thread=4697
