Amarra "Mini" -- $395
I'd have to nix the remote library AND convert all my ALAC to AIFF. I'll wait for a revision or two to reconsider, but at the moment I enjoy my system plenty without it.

The vagrant who left the magazines there as bait was likely availing himself of the lotion behind a tree somewhere in peepin' range.

Interesting. I'll be testing CS2 on it tomorrow after I get it running. Some of my plugins don't cooperate with 4, so I keep 2 around (and in general prefer it for my limited applications).

That, or they wear articulated wicker boxer-briefs, like real men.

I think we've discovered why Neimann's is not headquartered in Texas.

Ripping HDCD in iTunes?
I'm glad I'm not the only one whose little voice is Big Black from Rob and Big.

Sounds to me like you're really half-assing it, Salty.

Audeze LCD-1 just landed!
It is helpful for me when a band's name places them squarely in their genre. One more reason to listen to ska.

Can't do it. Rabies.

1) $29 2) Far superior multiprocessor and graphics card support (only for Apple applications right now until 3rd parties catch up) 3) Faster handling of large files/directories (think large itunes libraries or pictures) There's really no flash to it. Very little new functionality to the user, just a faster, more efficient experience. The big deal to my eyes is the new "Grand Central", which is the new method of dividing tasks between processor cores, trying to fully utilize them. Early reviews show a speed increase in almost every task, with significant (100%+) increases for very processor-heavy tasks.

I like those odds, stretch.

Router Suggestions
Yeah, I really recommend the Airport extreme as well, even for an all PC network. Fast as blazes, and very stable. I'm using it for a boatload of stuff (print server, wireless backup, upnp, media streaming, etc.) and it hangs in there wonderfully. Its range and speed through basement walls is pretty impressive, too, FWIW.

Any chance copies of the snow leopard will be in store Friday? I cancelled my Amazon preorder due to it's arrival in mid-September (according to my status email), and I'm itchin' for some grand central.

Not being a head-caser bodes well for his athletic aptitude. That means he, like all of you, will surely stomp me.

I expect a mouth full of teeth for the first guy who asks what brown can do for him.

2009 RMAF & Head-Fi (CanJam 09.5?)
This is a legit concern, Larry, and I'm working on a good answer for you. Every exhibitor at RMAF has a guy who keeps things in order, and those are things that are harder to carry away than headphones. I expect we'll have a few folks whose job it is to explain the rigs, get them running, and monitor the gear on display at all times. Since we all want to see the show as well, those positions will rotate around. I'll assume you're in for a few turns as security guard, and Steve, Bill and I will no doubt do the same. As more rigs show up, those volunteer numbers should rise as well.

Bookshelf speakers build
How curious! I'm in the "helping folks unload after a transcontinental move to Colorado" business. I only charge one pair of speakers

What did you do today?
I feel for you, sir. At least, as a Brit, you're used to sucking on tea bags. You'll need it to keep from getting dry socket

Audeze LCD-1 just landed!
Well then, looks like we're covered there I'd happily show off anything else you like, though

Dan, if they're still floating around come RMAF time, I'd love to show them off to a wider audience. I'm confident someone there will have an amp worthy of a good pair of Orthos.

HeadFest happens in Vegas right around CES, IIRC.

x2 I'll fire up a thread over there regarding member systems -- I already know of a few folks I've talked to. Hopefully we'll get a few commuter systems, too -- plenty of good stuff in CO, but plenty of room for more as well.
