June 3, 20206 yr I've been listening to her without watching her all day, and I think I figured it out. Her silent motions are the visual portion of the performance, because her playing is so meticulous that she imparts no personality onto the music (and that’s a good thing). You know how when you hear Keith Jarrett or Brad Mehldau (or more obviously, Miles Davis or David Gilmour), you know immediately who's playing? Not with her, I can't. She lets the (beautiful) music speak for itself. I would love to hear her play some Schubert or Bach, or any other kind of music that "plays itself". So her movements at the bench are the visual portion of the performance. Or maybe she just can't help herself, maybe she's just that moved by the music. Oh well, don't know, don't care, I enjoy, and she obviously does too, and that's all that matters. On the bright side, she does Pictures -- one of my favourite pieces for piano, EVAR -- her performance of it might have just zoomed into the top spot for me. Thanks for reminding me of her. By the way, I had heard her before, in a collaboration she did with Ólafur Arnalds, The Chopin Project, which I also enjoyed. Really wish I was paying more attention at the time, would've seen her live. That was 5 years ago. Unrelated-- jazz:
June 4, 20206 yr And those of you who have known me longer than Head-Case (which is to say, none of you) will know that Henry Mancini has a special place in my heart, so this was a particularly mind-blowing arrangement:

June 14, 20206 yr I watched some crazy dude in a wing suit flying near some crazy rock face in a GoPro sponsered video. But what stole the show for me was this wonderful (background) music and this angelic voice -
June 17, 20206 yr This version is both inferior and superior to the versions playing in my head, not sure why (other than the obvious—it doesn’t go on for an hour).
June 18, 20206 yr This animation is amazing, the song is beautiful, and I love how the video and lyrics are two different takes on the same (sweet) concept (your loved ones aren’t truly gone if you hold them in your heart).
June 19, 20206 yr Lollers, I’ve never heard that version, only the Filter version. which I do dearly love thanks for opening my ears to it
June 20, 20206 yr @Hopstretch - one assumes that you already know about Ms. Bridgers' new album? https://pitchfork.com/news/phoebe-bridgers-releases-new-album-punisher-listen/ Unlikely to be uplifting, but that's not always what the Dr. ordered.
