Photo most likely taken by Jack Bradley. I'd love to know the identity of the trombone player. Google has, and I want to be clear about this, utterly fucking useless in this regard. I think that’s Louis sachmo my dad knew him when I was a kid that’s his place in queens nyc was there a few times. really nice man now this is 55 years ago and correct me if im wrong but I was at his place a few times it became a museum and a local high school was named after him too. my kids went to that school many years later https://www.louisarmstronghouse.org/ yup im right

ktm Posted November 2, 2025 Report Posted November 2, 2025 I love playing around with classic gear. But not 17k worth. I miss the days of $20 garage sale finds. Another 10 years and this sort of thing will fade away. Everybody that wants one will be too old to carry it. 1 1

Knuckledragger Posted November 23, 2025 Report Posted November 23, 2025 "I inherited my late father-in-law's system and need some guidance." says a redditor. The system: Some father-in-law. I married the wrong woman. "Knuckles, you're not married." That's besides the point! 10
Knuckledragger Posted January 15 Report Posted January 15 Peter Doig built a sound system using parts from old cinemas and then Brian Eno did a DJ set on it. 8
Knuckledragger Posted April 14 Report Posted April 14 There's a guy I follow on Flickr who has a Fuji X-E3 mirrorless body. He adapts a variety of old manual lenses to it, which is how he caught my attention. He's got a taste for old and custom tube gear and has a whole album of space heaters and funny wooden boxes. 5

Knuckledragger Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago Quote Finally got the computer desk set up in the new(ish) house. Pre-amp is a classic Quad 44. The speakers are Rogers LS5/8, BBC-designed, grade one main monitors. They're driven by special BBC versions of Quad 405s (called BBC AM8/16), each having an additional PCB which serves as an active crossover. I bought the speakers from ITV television when they closed The London Studios back in 2018 (making me redundant in the process). For anyone in the UK who used to watch ITV in the mornings, these were in Studio 7 and GMTV was mixed on them every week day for years. I scrounged the Quad 44 pre-amp as a freebie in the run-up to the closure of the studios. 3
swt61 Posted 22 minutes ago Report Posted 22 minutes ago What is this "overkill" thing that some laymen speak of? Seems perfectly normal to me.
