July 17, 201312 yr For the last night of vacation, Debbie and I went to a new local place named Dancing Marlin that specializes in small dishes ala tapas. Here was our lineup: Whitefish escabeche with cucumber vinaigrette, mint and red onion. Fried kale. Shrimp and Spanish chorizo flatbread. Oyster sliders. Shrimp pot stickers with fava bean puree and pickled celery (sorry, ate most of them before the photo) Clam fritters with a nice salad. Seared sea scallops with brown butter and corn. Gnudi ricotta dumplings with asparagus and peas. And for closers, brioche donuts with salted caramel sauce and whipped coffee cream. Along with all of this we had several house cocktails including a very nice Scofflaw. Back to work tomorrow but screw them, we had a great shared meal tonight. July 17, 201312 yr Awesome closer for the vacation and more specifically that dessert as an amazing looking closer for a great looking meal. Cheers!
July 17, 201312 yr Looks great, except for that one pic of a dirty plate. Really? You went ahead and posted that? Aye keed, aye keed...looks like a real foody place with a real eye towards presentation. My only complaint would have been the pizza -- everything else looked great. And yes, double wowzers on the desert.
July 17, 201312 yr Apologies for the dirty plate, but we tucked in before I could remember to snap the pic. And since I don't see any sand, I assume you meant dessert. ( end snark). And yes, it was delicious. Though a bit too sweet for Debbie, it was awesome to me.
July 17, 201312 yr And since I don't see any sand, I assume you meant dessert. ( end snark). @ self And: no, I couldn't eat that. Me, shortly: strawberries, un-Vitamix-ed.
July 17, 201312 yr Braised Carlton Farms Pork Belly, Grilled Tiger Prawns, Corn Grits and Spicy Watercress at Cave B winery's restaurant.
July 21, 201312 yr Sometimes spelled "Ka-Prao" and variations. It's basically Thai basil -- in fact, most restaurants, when you order one or the other, you'll get the same thing. But I've been to at least one restaurant that prepared them differently (mostly in the mincing of the chicken). There's no bacon involved, so I wouldn't expect you to remember all that.
