October 30, 20223 yr Couldn't let Jeff have all the fun. Didn't come out quite like I hoped but ok enough for this year.
November 2, 20223 yr Had to take advantage of the buy two batteries for $199 get a free $229 router that Dewalt is doing now.
November 2, 20223 yr Author I got a free 36vt. 16" chainsaw, and 36vt. blower from the same deals with Makita. Love those! The DeWalt trim router is really nice! My corded version is now in Al's shop.
November 2, 20223 yr The deals can be great. My main problem is I now have Milwaukee 18v and 12v and Dewalt 20v and 60v tools. Any expert advice on finishing an A1 grade Walnut ply? Built the cabinet out of plywood and the legs, drawer fronts and top out of real sticks. Edited November 2, 20223 yr by VPI
November 2, 20223 yr Author Or you can go Doug's route and carefully & humanely milk a Yak. Ferment that milk for 72.5 days. Add 1 part nasal secretions of a virgin Nutria, then thicken with organic almond flour.

November 4, 20223 yr The plywood walnut definitely has more of a red tone than the solid walnut; but then again, the drawer fronts do not really match the top so not too big of a deal. The dog supply cabinet is as far as I can get it now without decisions on drawer pulls.
November 5, 20223 yr Yeah, kind of a small surface practice to figure out how to do this across an 8’ dresser next.
November 7, 20223 yr Milo & Otis finally had another chance to do a project for fun. I have been wanting a small scale audio rack for the bedroom rig. Steve came up with a design idea using some 8/4 mahogany that he got for a song a few years ago from a guy closing up his shop. We also had a length of 8/4 white oak left over from a job last year. The shelves are mahogany and the tapered legs are white oak notched into shelves. Got all the pieces milled and a dry fit done today. It's looking great and will be greater still with sanding, chamferered edges and Rubio Monocoat finish.
November 7, 20223 yr Author I had my force field engaged. It actually eminates from an area that is disguised to look exactly like a bald spot on my head. But the informed know better. A matching headphone stand may or may not be built to set upon the top shelf. I haven't built a headphone stand in years.
November 8, 20223 yr Picked up over 600 bf of 5/4 Ipe this evening, mostly 20’ x 6” deck boards. Rich neighbor gave me a deal I could not pass up so I will have to find some way to use it. First, cocktail tables and Adirondacks for the fire pit area.
November 8, 20223 yr Author Invest in a few more blades! And don't use stainless steel screws. Even in predrilled holes, they snap off like crazy in Ipe. Also, before gluing wipe both pieces of wood with lacquer thinner. Otherwise the glue will fail within a month.
November 8, 20223 yr Contemplating just going with something like this for the outdoor furniture. https://www.ipeclip.com/ipe-clip-standard-hardwood-fastener

How much do each of those weigh?
