I just came across this sub-culture, dark side of Head-Fi site. Great to be here. Im a firm beleiver in the Godly qualities of the GS1k. However I do feel that the whole Ultrasone thing is just slightly wacked.

Can't say I've ever really screwed wit hte Ultrasones, although from all reports I'm not missing anything good. The GS1k when I heard it, was awful however. So what's your rig then?

Nothing really special GS1k or RS-2 from RA-1, computer as source mostly. Guess Im one of those guys that beleives in hps first as the most important part of the chain.

My KSC-75 kicks sand in the face of your puny GS-1000s and urinates on your Grados.

I've only heard the GS1000 once, with an RA-1 and Benchmark DAC1.

I thought it sounded OK, but not particularly great. Kind of like a cross between a K701 and RS-1. Or should that be "the unnatural spawn of a K701 and RS-1"?

If you are speaking with respect to price than yes, the GS-1000 price stomps other dynamics. In terms of performance, sorry, not to my ears.

My experience with the GS1000 was quite unpleasant.

They were comfortable, and, well, interesting, I guess.

Not to my liking either. Too bright, dry midrange. Lots of bass.
