July 21, 200817 yr Hey Guys: I have a chance to get a pretty good deal on a SFT built Dynamight from a person that I've known for a long time and trust. The only issue that he has disclosed to me about the amp is that on the lowest gain setting, there is some crackling when changing the volume on the stepped attenuator. But on all other gain settings, there is no crackling. Is this something of a major concern? Because I don't anticipate on using the lowest gain setting, having heard this amp before. Thanks.
July 21, 200817 yr Yeah, if it were me and I wanted one, I'd feel comfortable buying it and just avoiding the scenario.
July 21, 200817 yr I'd try to get gilmore or Justin to comment on it before I bought it, but then again if there's no issue on the higher gain settings maybe it really is a non-issue.
July 22, 200817 yr I would leave it on a voltage gain of ten and not worry about it. Or if you insist on much less gain, you need to add a resistor to ground at the output of the attenuator for each channel.

Or if you insist on much less gain, you need to add a resistor to ground at the output of the attenuator for each channel. I had the same issue with a low gain setting on my Dynamite. Upping the gain to 10 helped. Also had to redo my grounding scheme (lift the grounds from the xlr inputs) to get rid of the remaining small amount of scratchiness in the pot.
July 22, 200817 yr If it's the might i'm thinking of, congrats dude, that's the best SS headphone amp there is.
July 22, 200817 yr go for it. it has to be one of my all time favorite ss. easily as good if not better than the b22.
July 22, 200817 yr That's jjcha's old amp right? It's a really nice amp, and I agree that it is just as good or better than the Beta22.
July 23, 200817 yr Well ship it to DC via FedEx then you can return on the plane with many small packages of twisted dented metal. Been there...........
July 24, 200817 yr sure they are, pack it in a pelican 1600 case, and check it. That's what I did with my m3 for canjam.
