December 31, 200817 yr Though its a band I don't listen to that much, maybe because I lost all of their CDs over the years, but TMBG has consistently been one of my all time favorite bands since I was 13 years old. Back then I only had ears for bands like Metallica, GNR, Slayer, and Pantera, but somehow TMBG squirmed their way in there. They spoke to my dorky metal heart in a way no band really has since, except maybe Phish. Anyone else a fan? I never see any TMBG in the WAYLT thread so I thought I'd ask.
December 31, 200817 yr There are certain tunes by them that call back fond memories, but I was never what you'd call a real fan. Didn't own any albums or anything, but Constantinople never fails to crack me up.
December 31, 200817 yr I've enjoyed them the few times I've seen them live, and have a few of their cds. I'm a fan, but not a huge fan, I guess.
December 31, 200817 yr There was a while when I couldn't listen to a whole album by them, but I always enjoyed individual songs. And does anyone else remember that song-a-day 1-800 number?
December 31, 200817 yr My wife is a big fan. I think we've been to 6-7 concerts since I've known her. They put on a fun show. I'm not a hard-core fan, but there are more than a few songs I like. It's good to have a little snarky whimsey in your music every now and then.
December 31, 200817 yr Big fan here as well, Posty. I've seen them a couple of times and they are great fun. My kids like them a lot too.
December 31, 200817 yr I'm a fan, though not a huge fan. I saw them at a free concert in Albany and they do put on a fun show.
December 31, 200817 yr They were the first band I really loved; the Then box set is great. I probably still have their first album ingrained in my brain somewhere.
December 31, 200817 yr They played here recently. On this tour, they're doing two sets. The first one is the entire album Flood in order. That's a pretty big change, as they appeared to dislike playing that material for many years. When I saw them in 1996, they did a medley and cranked through Constantinople and Particle Man in record time. Anna Ng rocked both times I've seen them.
December 31, 200817 yr Author Yeah Ana Ng did totally rock out the one time I saw them at the Variety in ATL. They also did the entire "Fingertips" medley from Apollo 18, which was ridiculous hot. Glad to see TMBG gets some love around here, they are a special band. I bought a pristine LP of their first album from Geoman. "Don't Lets Start" is one of my favorites.
January 1, 200917 yr Love those guys but haven't played them in a while I need to give them a spin, thanks for the prompt.
January 27, 200917 yr I have their Factory Showroom album. It has stood the test of time in my world. Although I don't listen to it much anymore, I find myself singing those songs to myself and to my baby a lot.
