For science, I have made another Sazerac Cocktail with Sazerac 18 (2010). Also awesome, but with more rye bite than the elder Rittenhouse. Do I dare continue with Thos. Handy and Van Winkle Reserve Rye and maybe the Sazerac 18 (2009)? We shall see...

I hear that the new Antique set is coming out soon... will have to keep my eyes out

Usually a little later in the Fall but who knows. BevMo has been a good source for those, btw.

That was a surprise last year Al -- all these people having preorders at K&L and the like.. and they were just available at the local Bevmo...

out of old bottlings open (i.e. bottles bottled a long time ago) so onto a couple of old bottlings (old whisky):

--> Glendarroch 1967/41yo 41.1% Lonach

--> Glendarroch 1966/42yo 41.5% Lonach

Now the Van Winkle. Damn, talk about your rye bite! I love this stuff. Mikey, you and your killer palette oughta do a sampling of these ryes with me.

Yes, do dare... science must go on!

For science! Handy is dandy, and its high proof makes me feel manly. :) Handy remains my favorite. So perfect in a Sazerac Cocktail.

Your labels tonight have contained the year of my birth and my home town, Mikey, and your booze comes from the land of some of my fore-fathers. :)

FFF Robert the Bruce on tap at Schubas in Chicago. Pro lighting technique to make the beer visible.

This might be the best bourbon cocktail ever.

Monte Carlo (Esquire version, IIRC)

Nice pallet of Sazeracs Al! That's some big science.

The scotch selection is awe-inspiring as always Mikey.

Good call on the Monte Carlo Marc, this may be next.

Starting first with a Carthusian.

Good shit Maynard!

another New Belgium Lips of Faith Kick...I know what I said...but I just keep finding myself buying it...especially at $6.49 - my 10% discount...

2011 Sierra Nevada Bigfoot...not as mellow as the 2001 that I had on tap (!!!) not too long ago, but interesting enough to make me want to age some of it...

finishing that Sun King Oktoberfest 4-pack...

excited about tomorrow...one of my friends & I are having a tasting in the afternoon...he's going to have a couple beers on tap in his garage & I'm bringing quite a few bottles...we didn't make it public 'til today, so we've no idea who's attending...

has anyone had this new Laphroaig Triple Wood yet??...thinking about buying a bottle...

A Bourbon Monte Carlo ala Marc

This envy is tasty.

It is a good beverage... I am a big fan of the quarter cask. With the 10yo, 10yo cask strength, and quarter cask, I will grab the QC 8/10 times.. Well the triplewood is pretty much the QC put in sherry casks (big fan) for a while. So it is not as much of a big peat monster as the 10yo CS. But more of a balanced beverage with additional sweet and spice notes. But let it be known I really like the combination of Sherry cask maturation and peat. So this beverage talks to me. But it is pricey, so you have to weigh that in.

This envy is tasty.

Agreed

BenRiach 1966 Rare Reserve.

This one has kind of a cool story, bro.

Stretch, that's the coolest story I've read in a long time. And a great ending as well. I can only imagine how wonderful the '66 must be across the tongue.

Cheers, man!
