  5. I was lucky enough to meet Prunella Scales around 20 years ago. She gave an acting masterclass to our local pro theatre company, Creation Theatre, that for some reason we got invited to. She was very nice, and was really tiny.
  6. Timothy West - also a great actor of stage and screen - predeceased his wife Prunella aged 90 in late 2024. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timothy_West

    Analysis

    Todd is kind of Analyst...
  8. Would swapping out the rolling casters with footers improve the sound too?

    Speaker Porn

Removed the grill which removed a "veil" from midrange 😆 and had to rework the crossover and physical alignment of the supertweeter, but yeah, I'm beginning to think the speaker angle was already a solved issue in the 1950's and 60's..
  10. power supply schematic updated. amp board updated. circlotronpsupdated.pdf kgsshvcarbonv6.1c3cs - CADCAM.ZIP
  11. Seems simmconn reads shematics. Regarding Q12, schematics and gerbers don't match, I think.

  13. Maybe I didn't give them a fair shake back in the day...
  14. I was just pointing out, as how Q12 is connected today, it’s not doing what it is supposed to do. The output should be connected to gate instead. I remember last time you recommended TTC004B as a replacement for the PZTA42 (different package). We just need something with a flat hfe-Ic curve to, say >100ma at VCE=10V.
  15. q12 is the current limit. so if the amp board shorts, at least the power supply will not explode. what do you want me to replace the pzta part with? remember 20+ma
  16. Q12 in the PSU seems full-on and not doing much if anything. I noticed that the 2N3904-based current limiter is not there. Many people say it is too slow, not realizing that it is protecting the passing SiCFET at every power up, before the opto coupler soft start switch is released. On the other hand, if the SiCFET decides to give up, nothing can hold it back anyways. The 2N3904-based current limiter should not be the one to blame. The amp section still uses PZTA42 despite the linearity issue we found earlier and better options are available. The STN9360 although is specified with a 600V VCEO, its curve shows onset of breakdown at a lower voltage. I didn’t take a picture with the STN9360, but the one below is similar. Technically the breakdown voltage is specified at point A, but you wouldn’t want to operate the part at point B, even though that’s still “within spec”.

    Analysis

I might have posted before, but if you want over 20 hours of analysis of a single album, there is:
  18. ^^ Very sad. She was brilliant in FT. ... and I got to know about her condition over a decade ago and happy that she made it this long. I use to watch her canal boat program all the time. I would just ask my partner, 'Old People on a Boat?' RIP Prunella...
  19. You are a good man, Todd! 👍
  20. definitely has enough power for that. 2400 volts peak to peak stator to stator at 25ma bias. only otl dc coupled solid state amplifier design that can do this.
  21. David Lynch and video games:
  22. Yes, it should have no problem with that. The only issue might be gain and bias but easy to solve.
  23. I've been "following" the FB page of Finnish electronic trio Koneveljet for like 15 years and the updates have been ...sparse. Their last album was 2005. It was a staple in my record back in the 00s. Unlike many of their peers from the frozen north who make either brooding techno or chilly ambience, Koneveljet got for a mouse upbeat and cheerful sound. They do so while being exceedingly odd about it. "Welkom" is a bouncy, almost goofy dance track with the strangest tourist guide imaginable: I dropped it in a tiny but very ritzy club in the second half of the 00s and got asked by several of the patrons "What is this stuff?" "Kompa" is similarly energetic with a guy with a (presumably) Finnish accent repeating the names of famous people. To this day, I'm not sure of the name after Winston Churchill. I love how they use Ringo Starr as poignant punctuation. The whole thing is so genuinely odd yet completely effective. Solid Finland/10. Since then they reformed briefly to do a live gig in 2017 (in Finland of course). Most of their updates are in Finnish (even machine learning struggles to translate it correctly.) Some things don't really require translation, like this photo: I woke up this morning and was greeted with the announcement of a new Koneveljet album, the first in over 20 years(!) Downside: the cover art is AI slop. 🤮 I hope the music is better.
  24. Does it have enough power to driver the Jackling Float?
  25. and the power supply that goes with it. standard off the shelf antek transformers are $44. need 2 schematic fixed. kgsshv600vpower - CADCAM.ZIP circlotronpsupdated.pdf
  26. RIP Prunella Scales, who played Sybil Fawlty in Fawlty Towers. Aged 92 after a long decline from Alzheimers. 93 apparently. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cjd0yn5gyndo
  27. Loved his work with Keith Jarrett for Standards and other LP's as well! RIP Jack!

    Analysis

I love Elizabeth/The Charismatic Voice; several others have also mentioned her. For me, I love how she geeks out to Heilung.
