  2. It is supposed to last about 10 years with very little drop-off in efficacy during that time. I already have my calendar marked.
  3. How long does the shingles vaccine last? My Dad got shingles and said he was miserable. I'd like to avoid that.
  4. Having had a mild case of shingles I got the Shingrix vaccine as soon as I could. Also no real reaction to it on this end. So totally agree with Al.
  5. My Mother had shingles 3 times. She said it was absolutely miserable. And the vaccine is not as strong once you've already had shingles I'm told. I got my shingles vaccine a few years back, as well as RSV.
  6. As someone that largely takes landscapey type photos these days I'm just the tiniest bit intrigued by tomorrow's alleged announcement. https://photorumors.com/2025/08/19/hasselblad-x2d-ii-100c-camera-leaked-pictures-and-press-release/ I cannot fathom the size of the files that this thing will kick out and the number of hard drives and processors it'll take to manage work in post. But still, 100MP of insane dynamic range sure sounds fun to play with if someone else was footing the bills.
  7. Having had shingles years ago, I cannot think of a reason for you to wait for the vaccine (especially assuming you have had chicken pox). I had zero reaction to it and feel better knowing that I shouldn't have to go through shingles again. I still haven't gotten the RSV shot but also haven't had RSV. 🤷🏻‍♂️
  8. Less than two weeks to go, hoping to find a few more of you to pitch in on the fundraising side and also kicking my family in the pants to get in on the 20k match that's running this week.
  9. Be a defensive rider. Saved my ass the other day (quite literally) as I watched someone approach the main road from the side, look, see no cars, and promptly pull out in front of me. If I hadn't been already preparing to brake hard and avoid the collision it likely would have ended poorly for me the bike t-boning into the side of the otherwise immoveable car. Cranked out some relatively hard miles yesterday in one of the last major efforts of training before the century in less than two weeks. The tailwind for the first 17 miles was nice. The punch in the face for the last 12 miles, not so much. But all around a nice ride.
  10. Yesterday
  11. Pre-fiber: Post-fiber: Eat your fiber boys....
  12. Got the latest COVID (Pfizer, August release) booster, as well as Flu Shot this weekend. Fuck RFK jr. and his satanic minions! They recommended shingles and RSV shots too; I may go for RSV, but my doc still thinks I could defer shingles. Will talk with her in Sept at my appointment, so that may change as well.
  13. Mucho, Mucho by Shirley Scott (1959) https://album.link/ftpkngtfhqdmq Example: Not boring. :} I found this while searching for The Latin Jazz Quintet. One of Sherley's early recordings.
  14. Other than a good helmet, rear-facing radar, and good rider ettiquete/precaution what else should I be doing? EDIT: Claude had some suggestions.
  15. ^^ yup - I made it through part of it the other day, dropped it from my queue, didn't post.
  16. Great album art, Shosty, what's not to like? The terribly flat performance. Uninspired to the point of boring.
  17. Yes it is. It's also a lot more dangerous than walking and hiking. Please be sure that you prepare properly.

Well, exists for two films because George Miller "nudged" the $tudio . In Furiosa there is selective color when it's important, like flare signals or a red apple. Normally a no-no, but I think it works here.
  19. Thank you kindly, Voltron! Hard to believe we met in 1995... Sam

Woot has the Nikon D800 (Body Only) for $999.99 for anyone still interested in getting their DSLR freak on.
  22. This existed. It's very terrible. That's Jennifer Aniston ---^
  23. Lawmen: Bass Reeves. Kind of seems like it should be called Lawman: Bass Reeves, but I'll take it. Based on the true story of an escaped slave who became a peace officer for over 30 years, with 3,000 arrests, including his son. You may also recognize the name from the Tulsa/"Black Wall Street" open of Watchmen.
  24. Bloomberg shouldn’t have copy-striked him, but Steve doesn’t know shit about the law. That video was painful even if he was in the right. Michael Moore style “show up in the lobby and demand answers” journalism is so cringe. It probably was just an automated strike. Don’t attribute to malice….
  25. Biking is fun as hell. I think I need one. You just don’t get this speed on foot. I still love walking and hiking but this feels like a different beast.
