  1. I am jealous of you guys. Since buying my Trek bike I've been making it a point to ride at least once every day. I am so overweight and out of shape that so far I have been limiting rides to 10-15 minutes in my local neighborhood. I try and stretch it a little bit more with each ride. I want to get my legs and breath back and am working slowly at getting there. At the end of each ride my legs feel like rubber, but I feel good when I finish. I'm keeping a positive attitude and making sure I get out there every day. I will post sparingly here but will continue to follow the thread for inspiration.

  2. Just wanted to wish all dads a Happy Father's Day today. Busy day for us, brunch w/in-laws, a visit to my dad, a graduation party, and MAYBE a dinner out, TBD. My wife Karen comes into our kitchen, where Andrew and I are talking. She steps back into the hallway, and says, "Andrew come here a minute...." Being the 15-yo boy, he annoyingly asks, "What....?!" And I reply, "Mom wants you to sign my card...." Nice chuckles all around. I told him he better write something good or I'll keep beating the shit out of him. I'm not the perfect dad, he's not the perfect son, but I am so much in love with this kid!

  5. It is funny, Colin and I had a conversation yesterday about when I got the first bike and we went riding in Liberty State Park. I started out in the same boat you are in. I was dying trying to get any mileage in. One of the most entertaining things is seeing the progress come on. Just a little bit longer each ride and you will be surprising yourself soon.

  8. I think the kings will have trouble with any of the top world cup teams. It's hard to cover that big a net with the butterfly style.

  10. ^^^On a Grado? He's just managed to move into the 1980's with the mini-plug. Don't rush him, man.

  11. Mike, good job on starting to ride! Keep on keeping on, you'll be surprised how quick you improve in little time. 54 miles yesterday plus a metric century today. I am beat but overall a good weekend for me. I'm really enjoying the Sunday group I ride with, not too big to be annoying and too mentally exhausting but big enough to not have to pull a lot. Plus just the right amount of testosterone intervals to keep me happy And the best part is the Sunday group rolls out at 8am, none of this 7am rollout bullshit.

  14. I am intrigued by the larger drivers enough to grab a pair. I deeply hate the 1/8" connectors, though. If you're going to wear WWII-era headspeakers out in public, you should complete the look with a needlessly complicated dual cable and adapter. Likewise, if you're listening at home and have an amp with a mini plug, you should be made to suffer. Also, we all know that bringing back the PS-1 would never work. Even if it sounded the same, it would not sound the same.

  18. I'm going to eat at least one rasher tomorrow. I bought a pound of slab bacon from the local butcher yesterday and will be firing up the grill/cast-iron-skillet tomorrow morning. I'm drooling already.

  20. While many here believe the LL is a (insert profane description) the level of hatred/disgust/disrespect/etc. in this thread is a little surprising. Alex is nowhere near operating at Mikhail's level of consumer debauchery, in my opinion at least. Are there issues with the LL, Kevin and Birgir think so, Alex does not. All I know is that I'm not qualified to enter into that particular discussion other than to say that his products are not the first nor will they be the last to have exposed terminals on the IEC. I don't find that particular offense all that offensive. It's probably more risky to have exposed tubes on many of the amps that we use regularly given the potential for serious burns to occur. But anyway, back to my original point. HC generally operates with a pretty loose set of rules and we typically (myself included) jump all over the random asshat that comes around trying to start what they believe to be an interesting topic. But this thread, again in my opinion, should be different. Birgir is levelling serious criticism and when the manufacturer takes the time to put forth a response the reply that gets applauded is one where he's told to go fuck himself? If you don't like Alex I'm not going to argue. If you don't like his products I'm not going to argue. If you don't like his business model I'm not going to argue. But the direction this thread is going makes me more than just a little uncomfortable. What I would like to see is more technical evaluation and discussion of the one serious (potential) problem in the lack of output resistors.
