  1. I was recently directed to Birgir's website to look at one of his well-priced prototype-cased KGSSHVs, ended up with the KGSSHV Mini. Have wanted this size stat amp ever since Justin created the short run of smaller KGSS way back when. Along with the Opus 21 I purchased new in '06, I have the small overall footprint (~10"sq) I need. And with the spankin' new 009s, really exceptional sound. When not spinning CDs, this is part of my PC rig; digital-in to Opus, listen to everything from Foobar lossless to watching Netflix to, for the hell of it, a redux of Doom 3 in 3D (devil is truly in the details; extra spooky....). Down the road, this will be a perfect rig for a cottage porch or similar small-area setting. No runs-hot issues; the top plate gets just a tad warmer than the 727II this little jewel replaced.

  2. Hehehe, this must explain why it's working so damn well today here. No skips at all on the web client on Chrome.

  3. i definitely have all the parts. And an unlimited supply of both liquid and gas N2. I even have a pair of oxford standalone N2 gas generators which have never been used. hmmm... what i want is some metal balls with a liquid sodium center, stick in LN2 to get them super cold, then use as long lasting icecubes that can't melt.

  5. Wow, you have noticed that most of the 600+ million people in southeast asia are not fans of JH Audio sound? I have noticed that JH Audio is making a shitload of money selling to Asia -- including you (great deal) -- but maybe Fitears is really where its at. I thought you said you were going to go back to lurking, not trolling another product in a thread about JH Audio.

  6. luckily, it's adorama, via newegg, so more likely to be what it says it is. Also, I'm only posting it to devalue crappy's listing.

  7. I still have a bottle of some Cuban liquor that my parents brought back from their honeymoon 63 years ago. Still tastes great. If scotch (or any other whiskey) only lasts 6 months, I'm going to have to take the next 2 months off of work and go on a real bender.

  8. Hell, Mikey's entire existence owes itself to the fact that you can keep open scotch around longer than 6 months. He'd be LONG dead otherwise.

  9. Yeah, I'm fully planning on getting a 2-stage model. The tax return we just go will help greatly toward that since we got back more than we were expecting.

  10. Twin Shadow -- Eclipse There are some CHVRCHES-calibre bangers on this that definitely make it worth a listen. Very different from the last album, which I loved, so still processing that.

  11. Hi All, I am new to stax and this is my first post here, have been trying to catch up reading passively past few weeks. I am not confident with HV so I've got Geoff's help and now I have his wonderfully build KGST No 05 pairing with a AN kit Dac41 and 009. After running in for 30+ hrs and rolling some IC and power cable it's my best headphone rig now. Many thanks to KG, spritzer, Geoff Nd others that make my day. Hope to learn from this forum and be able to one day make my own amp soon. Cheers Ck

  12. But it's newegg so you might get something entirely different, like a TV stand or potted plant or knitting needles.

  13. Big fan of that watch Stretch. I recommend you purchase immediately.

  14. Yep, I am much more intrigued by the new line of in house movements that appear to be very well built than the watch itself.

  16. This may not be a fancy variac, but is quite cheap. I have been using it for a couple of years without any trouble. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Variable-AC-Transformer-500VA-Variac-0-130V-TDGC2-0-5-/381177619548

  17. Saturday I took fotos at the Grants Tomb Crit in NYC. Ignoring the fact that it rained for most of the day, it was pretty awesome I'd say. There were very few spectators, so I got to stand where ever I wanted, and the overcast sky was a nice change from previous years with harsh direct sunlight coming from the wrong place.
