  2. For anyone else watching this thread, there's a pretty great deal on for the Nikon Coolpix A (APS-C 16MP fixed 28mm equiv f/2. at Adorama and Cameta right now, $330 shipped, refurb. I decided to order one and see how it shakes out. Not quite an RX1, but should deliver super high image quality from a pocket, and at 10-20% the cost, I'll give it a try.

  5. Holy fuck, that sucks Dusty, just ridiculous! I have to say, I've had pretty good luck with my credit card and Chase's Customer Service.

  6. You'd think. I just had a hassle with B&H. They sold a bundle that doesn't exist. Cost them money to make good on it. (And then ups imprisoned and tortured the overnight replacement package. Never, ever use ups for anything important!) I told B&H that they needed to take down the phantom sku. A week later, it's still up. WTF. I put a review on out that basically says "don't buy this 'cause out didn't exist" most folks would be embarrassed......

  7. Well, you are seeing elements of selectivity (in what I choose to showcase) and post-processing at work. I try my best to nail every shot, and work to find what suits each best. Momentum has been good lately.

  9. I am envious of your white balance and exposure. You nail every shot, every time. There are great photos, and then there are windows to where the photographer is at that moment. Your shots fall into the latter category.

  15. We don't get biscuits and gravy in Canada, because poutine is better so what would be the point? Anyway, I tried my first biscuits and gravy today, because I figured Brent would approve. It was okay. I suspect North Dakota might not be the best place for such a dish. Should have just ordered pie.

  16. Claire baked and built, but I frosted and toasted-coconuted this coconut layer cake with rum syrup, vanilla bean pastry creme filling and butter cream frosting. Pretty, if I do say so myself (even though it needs to set in the fridge and get cleaned up a bit).

  18. I got a pair of PM3s. I haven't heard any Oppo phones prior to these. In fact its been many many years since I've even heard a planar phone (audeze lcd-2 in canjam LA I think). In short they are dope ass cans. Really really really comfortable, like when I put them on I literally sighed they felt so nice. As I always said I have a large n' long head, and have fit issues with lots of headphones, no issues here. Pads are super comfy, ears fit perfectly in the cups, really nice padding on the headband and great weight distribution. Plus the pads and headband smell amazing. Best smelling headphone since the GS1000. Sound is very midrange centric, and it is a lovely midrange. Pretty much accurate with maybe just a bit of romantic flair thrown in. Or maybe they are totally accurate and I hear them as romantic because accuracy is romantic. Nothing wrong with the highs but I'd prefer a bit more bite. You can hear the midbass just fine but it lacks slam. The lowest bass frequencies aren't very prominent at all. Great soundstage, if I didn't know and you told me they were open cans I'd probably believe you for a bit. As much as I love midbass slam I can overlook the lack of it due to the great midrange and outstanding comfort. I anticipate these cans getting a lot of use at work, with the V-Moda M100s going on the shelf for a while. Only way I've used them is straight out of my Moto Gs headphone jack. Pretty easy to get decent volume out of them, although I do have the volume maxed out on some tracks that get me excited. I'll probably invest in a portable amp for the first time in my audio career because its fun to buy shit, but I am pretty happy with them straight out the phone.
