  1. White Zombie's Astro Creep 2000 came out 20 years ago today, so I'm giving it a listen with my HRMH. Everything Rob Zombie does is hit or miss, but the good moments of this album are about the best stuff he ever did.

  2. Not sure if anyone here is actually interested in these, but since it had a lot of Gilmore representation I figured I would post here. KSA-5 Clone Balanced Dynalo Whatever this new amp is called. About the only headphones I recognized at this meet. Along with the 50 pairs of LCD-2s Some amp the audio store guy was peddling. A pimped out Crack and a normal Crack

  3. The sun came out today and I picked up the 1Ds I bought a little while back. My right arm now looks like I got it from Arnold Schwarzenegger. I like it a lot though. I don't see myself restocking on 35mm film after I use up what I have. (The exif on those photos is misleading. The lens was an Olympus OM Zuiko 50mm f1.8 )

  5. So says Tara Labs. It also helps to make them in China but label them as made in the US. Not sure why that matters but anything that helps must be a good thing...

  7. That looks very nice. Netgate is awesome, would have liked to pay for their support and supporting pfsense. I believe they are the driving support behind quickassist drivers being ported to freebsd and are working with Intel. This is the netgate supported version that you described: https://store.pfsense.org/SG4860/

  9. So, out of curiosity I looked up the ECL82 (6BM8) that spritzer suggested. It turns out the amplification factor when the pentode is triode strapped is about 6.8, which is nearly 10 dB lower than the 6SN7GTAB, leaving about 4 dB of feedback. If we assume the grid-to-plate capacitance is about 4-5 pf, this puts the open loop frequency response at -3dB between 22 and 27 kHz, which is where the feedback margin runs out, so the closed loop frequency response is about the same. By contrast with the 6SN7GTA/B the closed loop frequency response is -3dB at around 53 kHz. Voltage rating and power dissipation are not the only factors that need to be considered in selecting an output tube.

  10. Spent the day at a nice little stereo shop in the neighborhood that I just realized existed. There are a lot of nice speakers on the market these days. Listened to several Raidho speakers with their ribbon tweeter that I thought sounded pretty great and some Devore Fidelity speakers that I thought were ugly but they sounded good. Also the first time I have heard Auralic DACs. I should have bought Todd's when he had it up for sale. The Berkley Reference DAC was pretty great as well. I have almost convinced myself to dump the Stealth 6s and go with real speakers and amps in the office.

  13. Well, Intel versus Cavium and Brocade (whatever the open source version is called) versus pfSense? Also, DIY could have antenna and also the LTE card slot in a single chassis. With the ERL I need two more boxes and a LTE to Ethernet thinger seems harder to find. But yeah, I like the ERL.
