I’d actually recommend going backwards from Selling England by the Pound ...but yeah, if prog ain’t your thing, don’t force yourself. They are pretty much prog incarnate during the PG years. Many consider ...Lamb... to be the pinnacle of prog, and it’s as impenetrable as it gets.3 points

Nursery Cryme So great, from the opening barn burner, “Musical Box” to the underrated closer, “Fountain of Salmacis”.2 points

Meanwhile ... " But, is it really titanium? The least green metal in existence? I mean boil ilmenite in sulfuric acid until the iron dissolves out. Filter, dry, and heat to red heat, then add chlorine gas to make TiCl4. Condense that out of the exhaust, gather it up, and place into a reaction vessel with either sodium or calcium metal. Light it off, when the vessel stops bouncing, you have titanium sponge with salt. When it cools down, wash out the salt, and melt the titanium in a vacuum furnace to get a metal. The good news is when you need a new number, given how hot titanium burns, disposing of the old card will be very entertaining. Note, class D fire extinguishers do not work on titanium. Your choices are vacuum, carbon monoxide, and argon or helium."2 points

Next up should of course be.. And I understand about the prog barrier - but you are pretty close with Plays live - I might recommend going forward starting with Trespass. Not as proggy as Foxtrot with the epic Supper's Ready.2 points

Start with some commonly available instructions, like the excellent stuff at AMB's website. Like this - https://www.amb.org/audio/beta22/, among others.1 point

I really like mine, it was a gift from the wife. TT yellow gold with blue ceramic on the bracelet. My buddy got it right when they came in stock like I did, but he wanted SS black which our AD didn't have the bracelet version of thus he had to order it separately. The bracelet adds a lot of character to the watch imo. The micro adjust is also quite nice to have. My other omega was also a gift from the wife, the planet ocean big blue. Of the two the 300m is miles more wearable. The lugs are also pretty short so I feel that it wears closer to a 40 than a 42. It wears better than my 40mm Panerai luminor, the 300m actually feels smaller because the way it sits on the wrist. The planet ocean is a monolith and feels every bit it's size on the wrist Lol. The first comment I get from people when they hold it is "wow this is really heavy" that's not typical of a ceramic watch! It is more comfortable than my old rolex dssd. It hugs my wrist more so I don't hit it on things like I did with the dssd.1 point

If one is under 30 and has an education that will actually lead to gainful employment, then one also has (A) student loans the size of Turkmenistan's GDP, (B) intellectual gifts earning a giant scholarship, or (C) rich AF parents. This is to say nothing of the cost of housing, transportation (the nest major economic bubble/bust is auto loans, you can quote me on this), energy, etc. As for an economic recession, Ol' Cheeto Dust is getting that warmed up as we speak. The Fed just lowered interest rates while the economy is still "booming" (generally the opposite of that is the rule) and the FDIC voted to ease regulations (also know as protections) put in place post-2008. The excrement is going to hit the ventilator, the only question is at what speed are the blades turning. Also, to be clear, I'm a Gen Xer. I expect the world to burn, and it has yet to disappoint me. ...and now some pictures: Abandoned motel in Arizona. Painted Hills, Oregon. Tuscany hills, Italy.1 point

The millennials/zoomers are now in a position where a college degree is more like a high school degree was 40 years ago. Employers want a degree for even entry level stuff that is brain dead work. And they pay crap. If you don't get specialized, good luck. And with Asian and India degree mills working overtime, guys with master's degrees show up at job interviews all the time. About 10 minutes into the interview you wonder how the guy tied his own shoes.Yes, I'm in my 60's. Thank god my kids have it together.1 point

I have been thinking about him after I saw reminders of when a lot of us were in Chicago the week after. If I wasn't out of desk whiskey, I'd pour one in remembrance.1 point

Having lived in Southern California and experienced five major fires, fires where I can actually see the flames on the hillside I can tell you from first hand experience that brush clearing and fire breaks do help in minimizing the fire damage. I can only speak from first hand experience where I have seen the fires burn brush all the way up to the cleared areas and then stop. These observations and opinions are shared by some friends who are LA City and County fire fighters and fire Captains whose job it is to fight these fires. My opinions are based on first hand experience not information gleaned from the internet. There is no need to be rude to Jose or Rob.1 point
