Getting a used tire as I type this. Ordered two more Michelin tires for the front. Rear Michelins are still in good condition. Will get those mounted Saturday.4 points

One of my best friends manages a CA East Bay Punk band called Stay Out. They made their first East Coast visit this weekend. Lots of fun, but shit did I feel old! Another "old" local punk band, the FU's, also played (and their age was showing as they didn't want to headline, as that would be too late 🤣). Great fun, energetic and often melodic music, and weary bones and muscles. Stay Out did a REALLY good version of Green Day's "Welcome To Paradise" as an encore.... Stay Out is the second/longer video, FU's are the shorter one. FU's lead singer reminds me of Gibby Haynes from Butthole Surfers.... IMG_6003.MOV IMG_6006.MOV3 points

Not attended live, but I've been watching Glastonbury on the TV. Octogenarian Rod Stewart in the Legends slot on the Pyramid. His voice is nothing like it used to be. We saw him live when he was a mere 65 and he was great then. But given his age he still managed an hour and a half. He had a personal trainer back stage the he kept going to from time to time while the band played stuff. And a last night a stunning set by Olivia Rodrigo - a real tour de force aged 22, She has crammed a whole lot into her young life (check Wikipedia) https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c2lekyx02j4o . Young enough to be my granddaughter, I had to remind myself that Mrs S and I were married at Rodrigo's age!2 points

Funny how the band names become more and more appropriate as we age. FU and Stay Out are my reactions to just about everything these days.2 points

Sounds like you might need multiple tires! Glad you are safe! Have the mechanic look them over and make sure the pressures are right. I'm also having new tires put on this week. Treat your tires with care and they will take care of you.2 points

^^ thanks for the reminder. I have been waiting to watch the full 2025 Le Mans, but there have only been highlights. Until now... I have not carved out the time to marathon this yet, but at least I know it is there. :}1 point

Looks like conventional armies are dead. Between Ukraine and Isreal's tactics, tanks have become deathtraps. Drones, shoulder fired weapons, and sneaky tricks seem to be the winning move. $$$ stuff like ships, aircraft and armor no longer mean success. If you can knock out a multimillion dollar aircraft or tank with a $50,000 shoulder weapon or a couple thousand dollar drone, all those big ticket defense contracts become worthless. The USMC has already made a big Change by phasing out tanks. Hard to say if the US army will follow suite. The same type of attack used to take out Iranian leaders and air defenses can be used against any country including ours. I'm pretty sure it's keeping people In high places awake at night.1 point

Last night we saw Simple Minds....super show. Really impressed with how strong Jim Kerr's voice still is and how good a shape the gent is in. Modern English was the first act and did a great job. Soft Cell, unfortunately, was a bit of a disappointment. Can't help but wonder if they need a better sound engineer. Overall, great show and nice to run into some old friends. HS1 point

Actually yesterday. Had a flat tire on my way back home from cooking a stir fry with Al's Sister Rini, while the dogs played. I knew that the front tires were getting worn, but had no idea how bad they actually were. After jacking up the van and pulling the wheel off, the entire inside edge of the tire has steel belts poking through the rubber. Took the time to examine the other front tire, and I see shiny steel. So tomorrow morning I'm taking a few hours off work to get a new tire. I'm just hoping that I can make it to the tire store in San Rafael. Very nervous, as I now have no spare.0 points
