  1. Back in '84 I rode centuries on a new all Campy Italian Faggin (pronounced fa-jeen). It looks like a red & chrome Colnago, it too was a post-olympic roadbike copy. Fast forward to today, I still have the bike - it has been hanging in the garage getting rusty. My fat ass is too heavy for the delicate thin wall Columbus frame. Four months ago I had congestive heart failure. Almost died. No pity party please, i'm just stating facts. Spent a week in ICU and had multiple surgeries (minimally invasive, mostly exploritory) Spent the following two months convalesing - lots of rest and walking short distances to get my heart going again. So about a month ago, after researching what's out there, I bought a 15 y/o Trek hybrid. I rebuilt it top to bottom. New BB bearings, pedals, chain, one rim and hub, handlebars & grips. Cleaned, greased and adjusted every little thing. Been pumping the pedals three days a week since. Am up to 20 miles a day without problems. Of course my speed is a paltry 10-12 mph average. My goal is to lose weight so that one day I can ride the italian stallion again, although at my age I doubt I'll be doing any centuries.

  4. Woke up with this sunrise, so I took a shot with Sony A7R with FE55 and 5D III and 24-70 f/2.8 II both at around 55 mm and at f/3.2 The 24-70 is a bit disadvantaged as it's barely stopped down, and the auto white balance of both cameras yielded very different WB, so I did my best to match WB. Sony also seemed to choose faster shutter speed so exposure had to be tweaked a bit. Recalling what my own eyes saw, I would say the sky looked like somewhere between Sony and Canon but more towards Canon. Canon 5DIII WB, exposure match by drjlo1, on Flickr

  5. Glad to hear that recovery is even an option, livewire. Nice pics, Ari. The perspective that you were able to achieve (in the line of fire) is very cool.

  9. I think it's reasonable to modify a $75 pair of headphones to make them world beaters. If $1500 headphones aren't world beaters out of the box, they should be returned with prejudice.

  10. shouldn't be a problem at herd-fi I would be wary of the way they are throwing around the TCXO term

  11. well I've already complained about the shortcomings and this certainly isn't the place for headfi style impressions. suffice it to say I don't own dynamics anymore for a reason I still really want to try these with a 6336c amp, I think the heat output would probably skew my bias positive
